I did a public character description for everyone to be able to see. I do not think it is a requirement, I just like to set a PC at camp when first encountered...

Everyone can post in 'Hommlet' as your travelling to it unaware of what has occured in the past. Just mild rumors, no definate proof. To you its just a village.
On the map (which is all OOC) you start at number '1'.

We got lucky with the eclipse - bad weather a few days before, and nasty weather basically since it's passed - but the afternoon of, the skies cleared, and we had a great view of it.
