Ok, so setting up an ambush and waiting.

The security force arrives just over 2 hours after then were called after being geographically displaced, as security forces do.

You detect no movement. After about another 30 minutes, they report that the antennas seem to be attached to short range transmitters that use a frequency that does not penetrate rock. The assume there must be a secret base somewhere close, but it will take time to find it.

No. Local security suspect they have gone to ground, hiding in their holes. If they are still here...

The security detachment drop a small contingent at the antenna. It has, as suspected, a secondary transmitter, using sonar to travel through the rock. Locating the base will not be easy...and may have to be done the old fashioned way.

Rather, I just track impressions, noting when they occasionally dip and hit the dirt or a shrub or something. So it is hard to count them if some are following others, which seems to be the case here a lot of the time."

Sure. You start backtracking. How far back do you want to go?

You rolled 5 tracking rolls per day. You are pretty sure that when you camped the previous day, you were tracking more than one. Roll as many rolls as you wish to repeat, or you can jump back to any position and reroll that, with an extra roll to identify the tracks you were following if you don't follow them all the way back.

You track the trail back for the first day, but keep loosing the trail on the second day. By the evening of the second day, you think you have found the trail again, but you lost a few hours on false trails during the day.

That works much better. About lunch time, you find where you went wrong. A trail leading up a heavily wooded valley was detected, and Leticia leads you up it. Following in the dense forest is difficult, but by evening you find a grav scooter outside what appears to be a small cave. There is no sign of the lad...
