Re: Just stick to the plan, guys...

Sometimes the rules of this place make me want to bang my head against a wall. I post for advice in in the advice forum, but then it gets moved because of the mention of source material. >_< Makes me wonder how am I supposed to get advice on a game without talking about the game? The names here can be so misleading. Oh well.

Re: Just stick to the plan, guys...

more boss vents

and both within the past hour.

I had to rework a part fixture and I told the boss "Hey these 2 parts aren't the same but if we put something here instead of there it will work"

Well he tell me to leave it how it is and to offset the parts in the fixture so that we can use it as it is (please note they aren't designed yet, this is all taking place on a computer).  so I do that.

Then when reviewing the changes with the boss above him my boss says "Hey if we put something here instead of there it will work."

I wanted to throttle him.

now, because its cool out, we have the windows open for some fresh air.  it got warm enough for the AC to kick on.  I point it out to him, "Hey windows open, AC on."  and he says the AC is shut off.  which if the AC didn't make so much noise  you couldn't hear yourself think then i would dismiss it but it makes so much noise a deaf person can hear it.

Re: Just stick to the plan, guys...

At least some can vent about specifics. So I will keep it general.

Multiple managers. One way the rules say to do it. One way corporate says to do it. One way per manager to do it. One way per supervisor to do it. And even One way per employee to do it... And sadly in some cases the EMPLOYEE overrides even corporate @.@

This is every company though...

EDIT to conform to thread rules.

&*(_#&*R^#!!!

Headaches brought about by stress, humidity, pressure change, dehydration, or whatever is causing the recent onslaught of them. I'm usually disciplined enough to will them away and work through the pain, but this is starting to get ridiculous and painful.

Re: &*(_#&*R^#!!!

Guys?  If you say, in your advertising, "We finance anyone!" it's supposed to mean that YOU finance them, not that you're willing to ask the bank on anybody's behalf.  On top of that, I said when I first contacted you that I was looking for a loan to buy a car...a SPECIFIC car, that a friend had offered to me.  I know you had that information, because when you were getting my details for the loan application, I could see, right there on the screen, a list of notes about when I'd been contacted and for what purpose, and my statement was RIGHT THERE, the first thing on the list.

So I resent having to explain to EACH AND EVERY individual that I had to deal with, on the phone or in person, that I was there because you said you'd finance anybody's car purchase, even if it wasn't from you.  And 'resent' doesn't even cover how I felt about it when your salesman told me that the loan amount I requested was too small and banks just don't offer loans that size for cars...but he'd be happy to see if there was something on the lot that was in a price range that WOULD interest a bank.

Please...give me a follow-up call.  I want to tell you what I think of your advertising, now that I'm not in public and can feel free to really express my feelings on the matter.

I hate being hit by the stupid bug. Not that I am doing something stupid, but just that feeling that no matter what you do and look at in your posts, it's just stupid. It would feel better if I didn't know i was stupid.

What, pray tell, is the point of a prescription pain killer whose very common side-effects (better than 1 chance in 10 of getting them) include severe muscle and joint pain?

You know... the exact same fruiting symptoms that the medication is supposed to treat.  I guess the drug manufacturer just didn't feel confident putting, "Warning: This medication does not actually work." on the packaging.

Might as well take M&M's for pain relief.  Would be much cheaper.  Especially considering all of the other side effects that are listed for the pills.

Re: &*(_#&*R^#!!!

Found out I'm going to a funeral later this week.  My niece had a baby a few days ago...poor kid was born with severe kidney dysfunction that got to the point where it was interfering with his lung development.  When he was born, they actually had to resuscitate him in the delivery room.  After a few days of continued declines in his health, my niece and her husband decided to take him off life support.

Reminded of the line from the film version of The Two Towers...'Fathers should not live to bury their sons.'  I can't even begin to imagine what the two of them went through in making that decision...but at least their baby isn't in pain anymore.

I've never been to a funeral for an infant.  That's a very shocking, bracing reminder of the fleeting quality of life, of just how extremely mortal we really are.  Gonna be a lot of introspection going on this week...

Re: &*(_#&*R^#!!!

There was this survival game where the referee wanted normal characters.  I made up a gym teacher who loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time traveling doing outdoorsy activities like climbing, hiking, etc.  There was this epic lightning storm, so my character grabbed her backpack and her go bag, then headed out to the basement of her apartment building to wait out the never before seen storm.

Lightning storm plot device teleported me into deep water.  Her hiking backpack with her tent, sleeping bag, and food was sinking, but she saved the removable daypack of survival gear, a waterproof floating bag of clothes, and her survival knife.  She swam her way to an 20x20 foot sandbar in the middle of nowhere.  The PC dug into the sand in the middle of the sandbar to get some relatively salt-free water to purify to drink.  At this point, the referee decided she didn't fit his character concept for his game and I was out.  And now for the vents...

1.  Why would grabbing emergency gear to take with you in a very bad storm be unrealistic to a referee?  Even the Federal Government wants you to have supplies.  http://www.ready.gov/build-a-kit

2.  Why would anyone think that a character who basically lives outdoors during her time off wouldn't have a bag of survival tools and supplies?

3.  Why would anyone think that a character who basically lives outdoors during her time off and has a bag of survival tools and supplies not be considered to know how to use those tools?

4.  Hey Ref!!!  If you ever read this and you want your starting players to begin with no real world skills and nothing but pocket lint for equipment, say so in your RTJ.  That way a gear-head like me will avoid your game like the plague.

Getting the courage worked up to finally go out to some parties to meet new people, only to have the weather and a freak cold to come stomp out those plans. Oh, and I get to enjoy the cold when I go work on Sunday through Tuesday with 16 hour days. x_x

Dog had so much fun with her squeak toy, an actual baby skunk, from two weeks ago that she forgot how bad the resultant bath was. She found it again tonight ( i am also going to victim blame the skunk baby). Unfortunately, I had no assistance to clean her off and think I did a worse job.

Let me tell you, there is nothing quite like that feeling that EVERYTHING you do at work is wrong.  When you do something exactly how the president of the company wants it done and then he looks at it several months later and tell you, "You made it worse"

You stupid twit.  Two weeks in a row, two completely different grant requests, and you give me 24 hours notice to drop everything to get you numbers.  You've known the grant application dates for quite some time - it's your fruitin' job!

Common courtesy. Really.

Re: &*(_#&*R^#!!!

That feeling when you truly care about someone who does not feel that way about you, no matter how often you were there for them, and deciding enough is enough. That feeling when you know that regret will coalesce about you for the next few moments, hours, days, or weeks. That feeling when you know the question of whether cutting them out of your life was the right thing to do will haunt you, even though deep down you know that it is the best thing for your mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
