free form????

Ok, been playing a game for a while, and thought I would think further on about running my own, but I have a question.

what does free form meen? is that like , house rules? where the GM makes the game system and does it all behind the screen?

thanks.

It's kind of a catch all. Typically it's no rules. No system. No roles. Just people role playing. I like Free Form somewhat, but too many times you get those players that run god mode. They know all. They can do all. They never miss. They never get hit.

In reply to GammaBear (msg # 2):

ok, but isn't that where the GM just lets them know in a if-you-keep-doing-things-like-that-your-character-is-going-to-die...type of of tone..??
 lol
thanks, I'm just asking because, well, all gamers from the dice rolling world try their hand at game design and we've done that as well, and I was wanting to try our system out, its basically a game built on percentile rolls, but we made our own CharGen and advancement type. was thinking of a little play testing here...

Sweet. I would say describe it as Homebrew, not Free Form. But that's just me.

Yep. Calling it freeform instead of homebrew would turn system gamers that hate freeform away.

Yes, I'd agree with the other guys here: in Rpol language, Freeform is collaborative storytelling (which can work well with the right GM and players). Your own dice-based game system would be described as Homebrew.
