I need some help.

Ok, so I probably could find this somewhere else, but I'm just ultra confused.

My friend Rickie and I have been trying to make a game together and play it, just within our group of friends, but we only succeed in making games and cannot join eachothers... What is the exact method of inviting a player to a game, or trying to join a game

My sincerest thanks. If you need any specifications as to game type or what we are doing, just ask.

And again, we DONT KNOW how to navigate this site well, so we can't find help on this from other posts.

In your game there is something called GM Menu. Click that link.

Then you will see a list of options. One of them is Add Player or Add Character. There are several versions of it, and I'm not sure which of them is the right one, but you need the one that doesn't need an RTJ. I believe that one doesn't have a dropdown menu for players to add. Click that one, and if you click the wrong one then go back adn click a different one until you get the right one.

Once you are on that screen, just type in the RPoL login name of the person you're adding and fill in any other blanks you need to fill in, then click the button to add them.

Alternately, if looking for their games, you can go to the main site page, scroll down to the browse/search for games link.  You can then fill in the Account name of the person who made the game you are looking for.

You might want to check the inactive checkbox, I'm not entirely certain what constitutes active.  If the game was created early and hasn't had posts, it might show as inactive.  You will also probably want to uncheck the box that says only include games that are requesting players, unless you all have found this flag in the gm screens and have turned it on for your games.

Then when you go the search it should show that person's games.  You can click on a game's link to go to it.  From their game, you can view threads that are public or group 0.  There  should be a link to let you Request to join their game.  This creates a private message to the GM of that game.  The GM can go into their game and look at their private messages, and there is a link to make it easy to add a requesting player, while they are reading that players message.

The easiest way is for the wannabe player to find the game by searching for the GM at the bottom of the site homepage (you may need to scroll down to see the search area).

Once you have done a search for the GM, it will show all his games. Choose the one you want and click on it. That will take you to his game page.

Near the top of the game page there is a link saying that you do not participate in this game and click to join. Click that link and write a brief hello to the GM.

Once you have done that, the GM will see your RTJ (Request To Join), and at the bottom corner of the message he will see a link saying Add This Player.

If the GM clicks to add the player he will be taken to the Add Player Wizard, where he can give the player a character name (essential, but you can use 'Player 1' temporarily and change it later) and add him to the game.

I need some help.

If you know your buddy's username, this will be an easy way to add him to your game:

  • Go to your game.
  • Go to your "GM Menu"
  • Go to "Edit Players" (top link)
  • Select "Add (Wizard)" (top button)
  • In the box where it says "If you wish to assign a new character" type in anything for now. You can change a character's name later. If you already know the character's name (not the player's username) enter it here, otherwise put in something like Character1.
  • In next box below, type in your buddy's Username and click the "Continue Adding - Search" button
  • In the next menu, check the "1" box next to the new Character' name, and then click the "Add This Player" button at the bottom right.

After your buddy is added to your game, you can go back into the GM Menue and edit his character's name, etc.

There's a bit of a learning curve for the GM's Menu, but once you get him added, the Help Files can walk you through all the other options.

Good luck!
