Mythos of the Maori RPG
I wanted to find an obscure RPG called Mythos, which is set in the Stone Age and has unusual mechanics, but my googling only yielded pages of results about the Cthulhu Mythos and the online game Mythos. By using filters I stumbled on something I wasn't looking for, a free-of-charge PDF of a game called "Mythos of the Maori." In the 36-page book, the author states that they initially wrote a book on pre-European-contact Maori culture but concluded that the book is unpublishable, so they created an RPG instead.

Does anyone want to read this short book with me and give me their thoughts on it? I can post a link to the PDF once I get the go-ahead from moderators.

Mythos of the Maori RPG
As long as the link connects to a legally available copy of the PDF, then there would be no problem in posting it.

Mythos of the Maori RPG
From what I can see on a brief reading:

  • The depth of research into the Maori people is impressive.  He should have published his book as a scholarly treatise.  He might have wrangled a thesis out of it with a bit more work.
  • The mechanics are task-based and relatively straightforward (if somewhat unconventional).
  • The game should be easily adaptable to any Polynesian setting.

Interesting!  Thanks for bring this game to my attention.

Later On,
