BFink:
Bastion is something worth checking.
To expand on what I didn't quite articulate, Bastion is an action RPG, but the reason to play it is the story. The storytelling in that game, mostly via the narrator, but also through the music, is top notch. The gameplay is alright, but the story is what makes it worthwhile. They tried to recapture that in their followups, but none of them ever landed for me like Bastion.
As for the rest, there aren't a ton of new games in that space right now. There's the new Pathfinder game, which I hear isn't bad. Pillars and Divinity: Original Sin, but it's one of those spaces that can't sustain a lot of games.
Though... I honestly would recommend playing through Diablo III if you can get it for a good price. I got it for $15 around Thanksgiving and it has a surprising amount of story to it. Whenever the new season starts, I'll start a new seasonal character and delve into it again (as I got to the endgame too late to do one in the last season, which ended yesterday).
