New to Rpol

Hello I'm new here to rpol and was looking to see if there was some people around on here that will let play some Dungeon and Dragons with them I already have a character made but will make another character if need be.

Hi, austin.hayden,

Welcome!  There's lots to see and do here, and D&D is still a very popular game here.

What sort of game would you like to play (old-school D&D, Advanced D&D, what edition?)?
Are you of age to play in games with Mature and/or Adult Content, and, if so, does that interest you or no?

There may be some game masters here who will allow you to bring in a pre-generated character, but I'm not sure I'd expect that.  It's good that you have expressed some flexibility in this regard.

While you're looking for a game, knock around in the Help and FAQs a bit.  (Both are accessible from the links in the upper right of any RPoL screen.)  Get to know the place, and how it works, what tools are available to game masters (GMs), and where the boundaries are.

A great place to find games is Wanted - Players.  GMs advertise here for players to play in existing games.

To find a GM to run a game you want to play, look at Wanted - GMs

Another great place to find games is Game Proposals, Input, and Advice.  This is where GMs float proposals for game concepts to gauge interest before doing the work needed to field them.  It also serves as a place where GMs who want help or advice with something post.

It's a bit to take in, I know, but there's, as I said, a lot to see and do here.  Wade into the water a little at a time, and find that game you want to play!

Hi, Horus.

I was looking at doing some regular 5e D&D to get more into the loop of things since I haven't played that much, but a couple times with my friends and my grandparents.

I don't really mind making a new character that much because I was wanting to make a bard. I do think that I can do mature content but not adult since I'm the age of 17.

You have the right idea insofar as adult/mature content goes.  Plenty of time to be an adult once you attain that age.

I don't play 5e myself, but you should have no trouble finding games and groups here.  In my previous reply to you, I failed to mention the Community Chat forum.  That's a great place to hang out, get to know folks, and talk about whatever (within that forum's rules, of course).

Dig in and get you some!

Re: New to Rpol

Another pro-tip if you want to increase your odds of being invited to a game: pretty RTJs (requests to join) often help sell yourself to GMs. Because GMs often get a large number of requests from players who want to join, it's important to write a compelling RTJ to sell that GM on your character and why your character would make a good part of that game. Think about the way you structure the RTJ; bolds and italics where it makes sense, paragraphs to make the text easier to read, spelling and grammar, and of course linking to some concept art that fits your character helps to depict you as a serious player who has given thought to your character.

The worst thing as a GM is when you get an RTJ from a player who only writes something like "I want to play a bard. His name is Bob. He's probably human or something. But whatever." That makes you think that the player doesn't care much about your game and, as a GM, you want players who are engaged and in it for the long game.
