Any game that is not MA

For some reason, I have yet to find an RP that is not Adult or Mature. So, if somebody could please make a game that is an appropriate game for the younger teens *cough* me *cough* and if anybody does make a non-MA game please let me know!

I'm setting up a General-level horror, guidelines of what to expect over here under the rules: link to a message in another game

edit: out of curiousity, I searched the Players Wanted forum with all genres selected and only General ticked for content rating: there are several games out there still needing players, including a Transformers one and a Power Rangers one if you're into action games.

If you don't mind learning 1st Edition AD&D/OSRIC, I've got teens in my game.

There isn't an age restriction on Mature games, only Adult ones.

pdboddy is right. There is an age restriction for Adult games, since they allow the graphic description of Adult themes, but the Mature label is something to be taken on advisement.

It gives you fair warning that you may find a few swear words, and topics such as horror, violence, and sex may be present but not graphically described in a way that might corrupt or disturb young minds - you have been warned; you decide whether to turn the page.

If you (edit: or your parents) don't mind that stuff, you're free to join up, but if you prefer to avoid it, then you will need to look for a General rated game. Hope that helps you to find what you're looking for.

I feel for you. What are your interests in terms of systems or genre?

I can make a dX game that's very character driven. Though few know/like that system. I like it because it's easy to focus on out of combat scenes, and very roll-lite.

pdboddy is  right....but his parents might be the greater rule....so bear that in mind. I was teen when AOL was new and I know I barely had half an hour of time to surf for anything not school related, and unsupervised. When I was 18, and lived with my parents still, there was still a rule that clearing history equated to disobeying (and back then browsers cleared all or nothing) and they would check everything I was looking at. So it may be it's that.

Or maybe he doesn't want to read mature stuff. I didn't watch my first PG-13 movie until I was 14. With the very rare exception. If I used a curse word....oooooh. Trouble trouble. Double trouble for listening to music with even swear-lite words.

So, I can GM (maybe) a dX game. Slow posting though, like two days, for as much updates as I can, per week.

Good point V_V. I thought of that later at work, but I wasn't able to edit. I've amended my previous post to reflect parental concern.

Yes but when your an Ace like me, and tend to throw up reading mature stuff, it's not fun playing a mature rated game

Okay, well, I can GM a fantasy game dealing with a sci-fi (Warhammer or Star Wars) type of "magic"/"force" or I can GM a medieval monster hunting group looking to slay a dragon and other legendary beasts. Would that work for you? It'd be a dX game, no matter what. It's just best for me to GM something rules-lite but still system based. I know dX, though I understand most people don't.

So...
  1. what appeals more to you?
    • a fantasy soft sci-fi?
    • or medieval fantasy?

  2. Are you willing to learn the basics of a new system? Unless you already know dX

The medieval fantasy one sounds fun! And yeah, I'd be willing to learn what dX is. :)

If you're throwing up with a Mature game, the GM is overstepping the boundary into the Adult rating. There should be no graphic descriptions that would make a player throw up in a Mature game.

The Mature rating is there to allow discussion of topics such as drugs, menace, personal relationships, violence, etc, that are considered unsuitable for a junior audience. It allows you to tell tales involving teen romance, abject poverty, drug barons, kidnapping, murder mystery, the occasional expletive, - the stuff you see in action movies with Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, et al. Stuff you don't get in General rated 'family movies' such as Spy Kids, Peter Sellers Pink Panther, or .

Graphic descriptions of gore, sex, drug taking, etc, should only be found in Adult rated games, and even the Adult games are not allowed to graphically describe rape or torture.

Most of my games are Mature rated, just to escape 'Disney World', and I don't include material that a worldly-wise teenager hasn't seen or heard of, or that a forward-thinking parent would object to.

Unless you think your parents would object, I would chat to the GM of any Mature games that interest you, tell them what stuff you object to and ask them where their boundaries lie. You may be imposing an unnecessary ban on yourself.

If you want to chat about this in more detail, PM me, or raise a topic in Community Chat, we're straying well off topic here.

Thank you, but I feel sick just at the mention of mature relationships, so it's not because the games are overstepping the boundaries of a mature game. I know it's weird, but it's the way I am. I can usually get through it, but I try not to put myself in that position when I don't need absolutely have to get through the mature stuff, so that's why I posted this.

What you might want to do, el455, is specifically put up an ad for a game with no romance or sexual content (along with whatever other game elements you're interested in - system, genre, whichever). Even a 'General' rated game can involve romantic and sexual relationships. So if you want to avoid those things, it's best to be specific at the outset.

In my experience, when you want something unusual and specific, it's way easier to ask for it up front even if that restricts your pool of available games. Fish in the lake where the fish you want live, even if that lake is smaller. It's easier than trying to pull something exotic from a great big lake full of more mainstream fish.
