The Devil's in the Details - Gestalt, D&D 3.0/3.5, 1st level

So, I was looking at the Fiendish Codex feats and doing so generated an idea in my head.  There are a number of "Mark of ____" feats (9 to be precise; with 'Brand of the Nine Hells' and allegiance to a specific Devil Lord as prerequisites).

I'm envisioning a game that has 9 players (each playing an emissary of their respective Devil Lord and thus each possessing the 'Mark of' feat for their respective Devil Lord). (Note: I'd like to use the 'flaws' option from Unearthed Arcana, with each player possessing 2 flaws, in exchange for their 'Mark of' feat and the Brand of the Nine Hells feat).

This would be an 'evil' game (but with a loyalty among devil's or at least among those within the group, even if forcibly imposed by their respective Devil Lords), and would have them face off against the forces of good...perhaps eventually at higher levels, a war between devils and demons?

I would like to see XP earned generously to allow a level progression that is somewhat faster than once ever 4-12 months as seems to be the case with many play by post games.

As for the Gestalt aspect.  I'd like to see the Devil HD and LA progress up one side and class levels up the other.  I'd like to see the allowance of one template (LA +1; I intend to use Mineral Warrior from Forgotten Realms: Underdark) permitted on the other side, paired up with their devil's first HD; this would be optional per player preference).  Once all Racial HD and LA have been attained, progress in a class or PrC would continue up that side of the build.

Ideally, players would not duplicate specific Devil races played (I intend to play a Kyton with an allegiance to Glasya = Mark of Malbolge).

As for available sources, I'd prefer players have access to most 3.0 and 3.5 material, subject to DM approval.

My preferred Campaign Setting is Forgotten Realms, but it can be anywhere as long as FR books are permitted for use in character creation.

late edit: 40 pt point buy or higher preferred...these are the 'emissaries' of Devil Lords.

The Devil's in the Details - Gestalt, D&D 3.0/3.5, 1st level

Realizing now that it might be hard to locate more than 3 or 4 level progressed devil's, I'd suggest the following:

If there is an LA assigned to the devil race wanting to be used, I'd be happy to assist in the creation of an HD/LA progression, I've done this considerably in the past.

If that is too much work (understandable, if so), I just read the following in the Fiendish Codex, regarding the "Brand of the Nine Hell's" and 'Mark of' feats:

Nondevils can gain this feat (Brand of the Nine Hells), and the feats that require it as a prerequisite, by performing a particularly useful act for an archduke of Hell.  This option is unavailable to player characters (unless the DM rules otherwise)

If 9 is too large a cast, perhaps a cast of 5 or 6...and should a character die, the player would have the option of creating and introducing a new character using one of the as of yet unused 'mark of' feats.

I would love to get behind this as a player. But alas I wouldn't have the time to run it as a DM.

Edit: I'd love to use an erinye for this one.

The Devil's in the Details - Gestalt, D&D 3.0/3.5, 1st level

I'm interested in this as a GM. I'm running a game right now dealing with an incursion from Baator to the Prime Material Plane (my homebrew world). I've sold off nearly all of my 3rd edition 3.0/3.5 materials but I do have some pdf of some books. It would be easier for me to run the game using 5th edition rules. I don't mind using features from earlier editions in the game (gestalt rules, PCs as monsters, etc.).

An idea I was thinking for this, is about two separate characters for each player, instead of one gestalt. Each player gets a mortal character in the Prime Material, they also get a character that is a native of Baator/Nine Hells. As the character on the Prime grows in power and success, he comes closer and closer to the Rite of (Hellish) Salvation--a process where a creature of Hell comes into the Prime Material through a mortal body. To be strong enough to escape Hell and enter the Prime Material via a ritually prepared (sacrificed) body, each fiend controlled by a PC must rise from the lower levels of Hell to the 1st layer, gaining more power or greater control of their existing powers to the point where they can make the transition.

If anyone is interested in this idea, if it fits with what the OP and the rest of you were wanting, let me know by response here or rmail.

Thing is, I don't own any 5e books...3.0/3.5 is my preference... And I've no problem typing up anything I use that a GM doesn't have the book for. As for the concept, I think it's great, but only if both characters are gestalt... Given that the OP states a desire to play gestalt characters.

bump: still looking for a GM

Prospective GM's: Is there something about the request that, if altered, would make it a more desirable game to GM? Fairly simple builds being 1st level?

Note: The game currently has 4 interested players (including myself); are there other's that would be interested in playing...perhaps enough player interested might sway a prospective GM to take this on?
