Hi there.

I'm looking for a game set in the Firefly universe using either the Firefly RPG or the Serenity RPG. I'm happy with either system but I'd prefer that the players be playing original characters of their own creation rather than the characters from the TV Show/Film.

Is there any GM out there who fancies setting up a game?

Or a GM with an existing game who fancies accepting an additional player?

I miss the old Serenity RPG, but I'm not a fan of the Firefly one. If you don't find a GM soon, I might take a swing at it. If you do, then I'll sign on as a player.

I suspect that the old Serenity RPG will work better on RPOL so that would be my preference as well.

I agree, and would be what I would run. Though Savage Worlds is close enough in general mechanics to work as an alternative if there isn't enough interest from players.

Bumping this thread as I'm still keen to find a GM to run a Firefly/Serenity themed game with player created characters.

Since you're okay with player made characters, what is it about the idea of a firefly game that's so appeals to you? They didn't actually spend a lot of time developing the setting, so I doubt it's the rich world you would visit. Is it the gritty Western space Punk aesthetic what appeals to you?

Please don't take this the wrong way but I think that you're being a bit harsh about the setting. In the two RPGs using the Firefly setting there are enough outlines of the different planets, organisations and personalities for a GM to flesh out a very interesting campaign. I'm therefore not looking for an exact replica of the TV show or film but something using the interesting and gritty Wild West in Space setting that JW created. Essentially I think that there is a lot of potential there for a GM to develop and I'd like to play in that.

Please note that I've had an offer from a GM to set up a game on the basis above and they're making lots of progress in doing so using the Savage Worlds system. Hopefully this will move to RTJ stage soon.

Generally, yes. The two RPGs put out for the 'Verse expanded on the canon quite a bit, so it's probably significantly deeper than you imagine.

The game has been set up and is now taking RTJs.
