Mage: the Ascension (M20)

Reading the backer release of the Gods and Monsters supplement for M20 has me craving some Ascension-y goodness. Open to almost any premise. Would prefer to start slightly above default starting character stats, but can live without that if need be.

I'd run it myself but I can only run one game at a time and that slot is full.

Mage: the Ascension (M20)

I don't have any experience with the game so I can't run, but I'd also love to play

Mage: the Ascension (M20)

I'd run it, but I'm already running a game, and experience has taught me that I can run one game and play in about four games without burning out.

Won't someone please think of the Avatars? Those poor Avatars, yearning to be incarnated so they can reach Ascension!

Mage: the Ascension (M20)

HI THERE! i am heavily interested in running or playing M20. I have very little experience in playing or running it proper (mage in general i mean). most of my experience is with dnd/pathfinder and other storyteller games (exalted 2nd, dark ages vamp, and wraith 2nd). i have a great many mage books though. i am D Y I N G to play or run mage. i have technically done a little test run before with IRL friends. but that is it. i am game for m20, i am VERY open to other time periods, playing tech, trad, disparates, etc. also fan of sorcerers.

cannot say i am a fan of the avatar storm but i am fine with that in a game. mainly i just hate how it makes it so hard to go to the spirit world and back. far as i know, i have all the current m20 books. if i were to run, i might use some material and rotes suggestions from revised or earlier. i would try to be flexible for what various sphere combos can accomplish. as for the vulgar/vain and coincidental lines, we can discuss the boundaries. i am fine with multiple definitions of those as long as we can agree on something.

for starting higher than normal for a mage, that is fine with me. heck i have access to archmasters of the spheres if we ever got that high. i doubt we would, but hey who knows. i am fine with discussing details. one last thing for now, if i run, i will likely ignore some parts of the ponderous metaplot. i might sweep away large portions if need be. details can always be discussed, like say if you just have to play your favorite faction, we will try to make it happen.

Here is to playing/running mage if we can!
Matt

P.S. i am fine with mixed trad/tech games and similar. also a limited of crossover characters, case by case, long as the rest of the party is ok with it. i don't want to lose party members over someone who is only willing to play their uber (insert oWoD beasty) build and nothing else. getting mage games these days is hard enough. i am SUPER friendly to stuff involving Sorcerer's Crusade. I even have the hard back 5 feet from me.

Great! I'd love it if you stepped up to run a game. Post a link here when you have RTJ instructions ready, and I'll jump on it.

As far as the issues you raised, I don't like the Avatar Storm much either; I'd prefer either that it never happened, or that it's basically died down and is no longer an issue unless someone botches a roll of the relevant kind. I would prefer not to use any Revised rotes, as they're not really compatible with M20 (which uses the Sphere levels and rotes from 2nd ed for the most part); when I've run M20 I've found that "How do you do that?" and a little bit of OOC discussion suffice to define rotes. Metaplot, pfui. Is Horizon/Concordia still a thing? Is Doissetep still there? Up to the ST; as long as the logical consequences are followed through it's all good.

I dislike Masters of the Art; the idea of arch-spheres was introduced by marketing and was never part of the developers' original plan for the game line. I also dislike mixing Traditions/Disparates with Technocracy, unless some kind of metaplot development were invented to explain why the latter aren't trying to kill the former. I am not OK with crossover PCs; that is a hard line. I will not play in an OWoD monster mash. They have never been good for me and I have better things to do than try one again.

That said, run the game you want to run. Don't twist yourself into a pretzel trying to run my favorite game just because I was the first one to post.
