Rimworld (ish?)

I joined the site looking for something but haven't found it. Maybe it's here already and I just haven't looked hard enough. I considered running this thing myself but I realized that wasn't something I was up for. Maybe someone else is?

I'm looking for Rimworld or something very similar. I picture this as a mostly Firefly-esque (space western) themed setting on a planet that's a bit out of the way from the rest of the galaxy. There could (and should) be occasional intrusions of hard sci fi, space opera, steam/cyber/bio punk, sci fi horror, what-have-you. Humanity has been spacefaring for tens of thousands of years, and sometimes people who don't live on a glitterworld (ie, our protagonists) may come across advanced technology that is absolutely beyond them because of disparate technology level or the alien-ness of the culture that produced it. Think Numenera effect. "I don't know what it was designed for, but it makes a GREAT smoothie blender." When I was considering running this, I thought to name it 'The Thousand Worlds' to imply that there are a thousand populated worlds extant (with that much potential diversity in tech level, cultural inputs, and such).

I'm hoping for a partially collaborative worldbuilding approach. Someone creates a character, sure, but would also briefly detail the ideoligion and general culture from which that character hails. Or uses a previously established ideoligion. There are likely a dozen or more ideoligions which are particularly prevalent on this planet. And of course since this isn't a video game, players would also flesh out how closely their character follows that ideoligion.

Anyone interested in running something like this?

For all the sci-fi setting, I'm interested in personal and social drama. People from different cultures and tech levels having to figure out how to survive or even thrive. Bandits and/or bandit kings, pirates and raiders, or even pockets of established cultures that view the outworlders with disdain, disinterest or worse, interest.

I'd rather the actual gameplay be loosely freeform, perhaps sandbox with GM-plot interference. I do like the idea of having a 'character sheet' with numbers to guide people, but shy away from actual dice rolls.

Running no, playing yes. Not so sure about the freeform aspect...

Rimworld (ish?)

At first I thought you wrote "Ringworld" from the Niven novels. Put me down as maybe, not too sure about these freeform games. Never been or looked into one ...
