The Chunin Exams are here! With the time skip, I am also adding the Chunin Exams as a bonus.

In order to qualify for the Chunin Exams, you must have a full team of three to enter.

To enter, simply come with your team and fill out the following form below and sign a weaver, acknowledging the risk of death and that nobody will be responsible if something happens to you.

By filling out this form, you are agreeing to be available on January 29th of 2016 for the Chunin Exams.

Chunin Exam Form:

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Squad Number:
  • Rank:
  • Village:
  • Jonin Leader:
  • Team mates:

I, [enter name here], hereby understand the risks and conditions of the Chunin Exams in order to fully participate. If I abide to any means of cheating, I understand I can be disqualified. I also understand that if I am disqualified within the first round, not only I will be disqualified, but my entire squad will be illegible as well. Being disqualified by means of cheating, killing off my fellow peers before the tests start, or by using any device to enhance my ninja abilities, I fully understand I or my team mates may not be able to sign up for another Chunin Exam date in the near future. I, [initial here], give my word that I will follow all the rules stated above and will give my all to perform to the best of my abilities and represent my village with pride.

Re: Chunin Exams - Sign Ups

All threads are now closed and will have updates in each respectful thread, describing what happened in each group and fast forwarding to three days ahead to the Chunin Exams.

As a reward for the week, everyone will gain .2 in every category, except Genjutsu, Hand Seals, and Intel.

Your data book will also be given to you individually for Chunin Exam Reference.

A light combat system will be posted once Exam 2 or 3 begins over the weekend.

Because Chunin Exams revolve around Genin, All Jonins have the option to embark on an S-Rank mission outside of the exams or simply just be on stand-by and enjoy all the Genin post. Send a PM if you want a mission.

10:00 AM GMT-8 Time, January 29th, 2016 is the Chunin Exams [American Time, PST]

-A roll call will take place 30 minutes before the start time. If failure to respond in that 30 minutes, your character will be eliminated after Exam 1 or simply ill not pass and result your entire team to failing.

-A roll call will take place shortly after Exam 1. If failure to respond in 15 minutes, your character will be eliminated just before Exam 2 starts or during Exam 2.

-A roll call will take place shortly after Exam 2. If failure to respond in 10 minutes, your character will be disqualified before Exam 2 starts or will forfeit their match.

-a PvP simple roll system will be enforced during battle situations that involve other players. PvP is short for Player Versus Player.

-All rolls MUST be recorded using the Dice Roller option. Failure to have record of your roll will cause you to be disqualified. I WILL be checking the dice log.

-Match ups will be one at a time, giving other players a break to RL. These will take time. In the meantime, just enjoy the show.

-If the rules are broken three times in one combat [due to roll issues], the offending player just gets DQ'ed from the match.

Chunin Exams: Roll Call

You are about to be given your first obstacle once everyone finishes posting.

The rules are as follows:

Each squad, please appoint a leader now. I have five groups to manage and quiet a few NPCs, so to help me out because I cannot read everybody's posts, your leader will be the one responsible to vouch for your squad when you have completed your obstacle.

If your leader fails to speak up, it could possibly cost you and your team the victory of advancing so be wise as to who you choose.

There will be 10 obstacles within this exam. Once you and your squad have managed to pass the said obstacle, it is your team leader's job to post a private line in their post and specially say "Squad [Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, or Wind] is ready."

I will be keeping track of how many times your team leader checks in. They must check in 10 times.

The winner will be announced when they cross in here.

Your posting time is unlimited so this will take as long as you all like. I'm doing this because some have had emergencies and some have been absent so to work around this, I am granting this, but that does not mean there will be no winner or loser because there is.

Once your leader has been chosen, please put it in your post in a private line to me.

Good luck!

Chunin Exams: Roll Call

Let me make this as clear as possible so nobody gets offended or butt hurt or even goes crying about it later.

I am a GM. Yes. It actually is a tough job sometimes trying to please every single person in a game, especially having to work around some people to get these things going.

Running a game is not as simple as it may seem, especially when you envision a game to be active and not stall on certain things for large amounts of time. Running a game takes patience and it can get stressful from time to time.

I put time caps on certain events because it helps move things along and so the game doesn't die down. When the holidays hit back in November, the game had almost completely died and I actually considered shutting it down. When January hit, I decided not to and just moved it along by granting everybody to do the Chunin Exams, to spice things up again.

It has occurred to me that not everybody is happy checking-in and being forced to hurry up. That's not what I am doing here. I promise.

I put time caps in hopes of moving the events along, because what fun is it that everybody has to wait on certain people just to move things forward? Sometimes, people disappear and never come back or others drop out because their group is incapable of posting constantly. What if I never granted the Chunin Exams? You all would still be slowly getting your training done.

I try to move everybody along all at the same time so nobody gets left behind because what fun is it if your group is the one that's the slowest and cannot join the action like everybody else?

To make things fair, again I state, this is not a timed event. I just didn't want to be stuck on this exam 2 for so long, but it looks like we will. So your posting can be frequent or it can be slow. Your choice.

So rules are as follows for exam 2:

A roll call will not be placed anymore for any of these exams. You either post or you don't.

You are not forced or pressured to hurry along. Take your time. Be creative. Race or not, take your time. There is no hurry here.

I will intervene once I see the private line. If I don't see one, then I won't know and you can't move forward.

Your creativity is welcomed always. Describe, detail, and post. I will give you your results.

Thank you for your time.

PS: In regards to Sumi Eiko's removal. He simply had a problem with me since the beginning. He had been giving me trouble almost the whole time he had been in the game. He misunderstood my words many times and took things far too serious. He didn't like the way the game was ran and he felt his creativity was always being shot down, which is not true at all. I always welcome creativity. I apologize for Earth having yet another squad mate gone, but his character has been placed into NPC form, so I will be portraying his char. to get you through these exams. If he was the leader of your squad, change leaders now please.

Before the threads open up, this is the time to ask any questions for me regarding the dice roller. I'm giving a small period of time of like 15 minutes IRL time before they open up.

Also, all dice rolls must be recorded in the log. I am monitoring every single battle. Violating this rule can have disciplinary action up to losing a turn and/or disqualification of your battle.

And one more thing, when battling, posts must be complete. This means your dice roll must be the first line and then your post. Your posts will detail what you attempted to do ect. because obviously that is the point of roleplaying. I will interfere if your post did not meet the requirements.

Someone has brought up an important issue.

quote:
How will you break out of a genjutsu if you're trapped in one?

The answer is, most likely you won't. If your character is not skilled in genjutsu, it will be extremely difficult to break free from a genjutsu cast. As I have pointed out, only two players know the Kai Release so they will be able to break free from most little ones. However, that can make a battle one sided, so I will intervene so you won't be completely hopeless. Take in mind, genin are young and could not cast a genjutsu for a long time so you will have the opportunity to break free after a couple of posts.

Another concern had come across with another player.

Their question was asking how the arena layout was.

To keep it as simple as possible:

It is not out in the open. It is inside a building, similar to the one in the Naruto Anime when Naruto was doing the preliminaries. Open floor space and an upper floor to observe. No statue, no scoreboard screen. It's the preliminaries so these matches aren't battling in the better arena.

Another question of concern from a fellow player is:

quote:
Is there a way to track our damage taken like hp? Or will the proctor know? I feel like either individual will always want to do a double backflip and attack again

quote:
Before we start I still would like to know how long we can last at one point are we injured etc? In terms of naruto most evenly matched people bounce back indefinitely until a decisive final blow, and then they get back up and use their other final blow back and forth etc so it is hard to nail down in terms of mechanics who is doing well.

To answer honestly, nobody has an "HP" bar of some sort. But perhaps I need to implement one. But if I do that, that would mean jutsus need to have damage/attack numbers and then people need defense numbers and the list goes on, making it more complicated.

Nobody was able to see the ending of the sparring with the example battle I presented. That battle was put to an end on the players' decision because one player got stunk in a situation she couldn't get out of.

For these battles, I want to put the decision up to you, the characters/players. If your character gets stuck in a weird tangle, then yes, that probably will put the battle to an end. However, if people are not comfortable with this, I can implement HP for everyone and disregard defense and attack values ect. Doing so means your stamina would come into play because Stamina is vital with for your overall character's conditioning and being able to cast many jutsus in a short time. I leave it up to the players to give a vote I suppose.

Unfortunately the answer is simple: there will be no rolls for these kinds of things. Reason being, I am forbidding the use of tools like these. The only tools you are permitted to have on you is kunai knives and shurikens.

I will have it this way because nobody has mentioned bringing these kinds of items prior to the exam start and there was no break to obtain these items. So sorry about that. Strictly combat of taijutsu, genjutsu, and ninjutsu only.

Questionnaire is now closing. Threads will now be opening. Roll to see who goes first and label it as 'coin flip.'

Secondly, before engaging in battle, write a post about what's been going on. Meaning, you need to respond to the Raikage's post and Fujii's (mine) all in one as will your opponent. Once that's done, the person who won the coin toss/die roll, will begin the battle and it goes from there.

I will be monitoring the battles. I will intervene when needed. I am trusting players to battle fairly and reasonably. Die rolls will be logged and recorded and if I see that is not happening, disciplinary action will be put in place.

These battles are all based on your own pace. There is no rushing so take your time.

Any other questions or concerns, well, keep it quick and post it in this thread for any Chunin Related things.

Let the battles begin!

I noticed you said that you can use ninjutsu or taijutsu to defend against taijutsu, but can only use ninjutsu to defend against ninjutsu.  Is it possible to try and, for example, dodge a ninjutsu attack or defend against it with taijutsu?  (Assuming it makes sense in context.)

Re: Chunin Exams: Updates

After observing the dice roller log, two problems have been brought to my attention.

First: NO SECRET ROLLS! It's misleading to your opponent and it is a way to cheat against your opponent. You will receive a penalty even though I can see the secret rolls, your opponent cannot.

Secondly: NO REROLLS if you forget to put the reason for the roll. That is no need to reroll because it can change the outcome of battle, ether giving you an edge or even a disadvantage. As long as you label it within your post, you're okay. Just try to make sure it doesn't happen again. If you reroll, you will receive a penalty. The only time it is okay to reroll is if you literally forget to add a modifier ect or you and your opponent decided to break a tie breaker.

DO NOT FORGET THESE NEW RULES!
