Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Sima had returned the next day to the same exact spot as instructed yesterday. Everybody made it and was present and accounted for. They were not ready to begin. The three stages had been disassembled and thrown away. The training grounds now looked like an obstacle course of some kind and many of the genin were curious. A bunch of jonin officers had been present as well and just before Sima said anything, they dispersed within the obstacle course tunnel, disappearing from sight.

Peering inside the tunnel, you can see how dark it is, making it nearly impossible to even see anything. It had a mysterious feeling to it and very cold air could be felt from within. There were many entry ways, just enough for a squad each to participate. It also looked like they had their own hallway, so it meant each squad had its own tunnel way without interaction with other squads.

Sima faced the squads at the front of the entry ways, facing all of them with an amused look. "Behind me is our famous obstacle course. Only the best genin only ever make it out alive. Normally, these are used for training purposes, but overnight, I have modified them to test your skills and abilities," he started to explain. "As you can see, not only is it incredibly dark, it is also freezing inside. The object of this test is to simply get through the course," he told them and a lot of smug faces appeared on the genin. He began to laugh. "Now, that would be too easy. The first one to make it makes it to the last exam," he paused for a moment. "And the last one to make it, is eliminated," he said and most squads began to panic.

"The longer you stay in those tunnels, you'll more than likely freeze to death. As dark as it is, you are unable to see the surprises waiting for you. Several Jonin officers await your arrival. You may even encounter other squads. The surprises are endless. The tunnel ways are also very narrow, barely leaving any of your elbow room. Be wise about your choices and tactics. A simple flame or single drop of water could be your doom," he finished and moved to the side, allowing the squads to line up in an entry way.

All three members post first. GM will give signal to begin to give you your first obstacle.

GM will also tell you when to begin.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Nanami lines up "Both of you look past the rule of one of us being eliminated. The point of that is to turn us on one another. If we are to survive this we still have to work as a team. Remember there are always surprise rules and such that pop up. We all want to win." She pauses and smiles "If we fight each other, we will all lose. I don't mind it when we are on the straight away, when we reach that point. But until then lets help one another as much as possible."

Nanami thinks "Also be wary of using Jutsu in that tunnel, when the proctor said, a single drop of water or flame could spell the doom of us. We need to be wary of that. I am ready when you two are."

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Sigmund had rested perfectly well in the room they were given and he had woken up feeling fresh and confident for today's exam. Upon arriving, he noticed the weird tunnel looking passages. They hadn't been there before yesterday. He wondered how they got here today. No matter, he thought as he paid attention to the instructions. When the proctor mentioned the cold air, he just smirked. Their sensei pulled this on them in the very beginning so they knew the cold whether feeling. But they were also warned about flame jutsus and water jutsus. It didn't sound good and it didn't sound good either when he mentioned the one gets to advance and the last one is eliminated. Was it one person or a whole squad? He wasn't sure. He looked at Nanami who began to explain for them to work together and not fight against each other. He nodded his head. "We'll get through this. We've done something similar before, so we can accomplish this too!" he said excitedly.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

After the last exam finished, the team headed to the room where they would be able to rest until the next morning. They made their way back to the exam grounds and it looked completely different than it did yesterday. Everything was taken down and now they came face to face with...tunnels? She looked at them for a few moments before she heard their proctor come up and announce the next part of the test. When he started to explain what it was going to be, she couldn't help but think back to how similar it was to their sensei's test. Give or take a few more things were added, but nonetheless, it sounded challenging. She expected nothing less. When she heard him say that the first ones to get there would advance and the last ones there would be eliminated, Nori couldn't help but wonder if it was the whole team or the last person. Neither option sounded good, but regardless, when it came to their team, none of them would leave each other behind. They would get through this together. She turned her head and looked over at teammates before she nodded in agreement. "Let's do this!" she said with a smile and a pumped fist.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Challenge 1:

Sima smiled as they appointed their leaders and finally spoke up again. "I forgot to mention one more thing," he said as other Jonin leaders started approaching each group. "Each of you will receive this bracelet that cannot be unlocked or taken off unless you have the key. This is your first obstacle and the key is in there. But there is only one key. You all must decide which one in your group can be released because let me tell you, these bracelets can release the deadliest shocks you'll ever experience," Sima began to explain and he saw the fright in everyone's face.

The Jonin began equipping and locking the bracelets on everybody's wrist. "You will enter the tunnels and come to a small box which contains your key. Once you decide who gets to be relieved, your other two teammates will experience a shock that will cramp them up for a bit. The longer they have that bracelet on throughout the course, the more severe those shocks become. There will be two other keys in the course so choose wisely," he said with a smirk as he raised his arm. "You may all enter the tunnels. Good luck," he told them as the groups began entering the tunnels to begin their first challenge.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

The group enters and finds the box. The box contains the key they need. The group cannot proceed further because of a door that seems completely bolted shut. They must remain in the room until further notice. The cold air brings chills to the entire group.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Sigmund was pretty concerned over the new rule and bracelets. When they entered, they felt the cold air immediately as they reached the room with the box and the bolted door. He was use to this cold though because their sensei's crystal rooms prepared them for this moment. He tried opening the door, but was unsuccessful. He looked at the box, opening it up and just looking at the key. He looked at his bracelet again, before looking at his group. "Nanami. Look at this key," he said, grabbing it and handing it to her. "What do you see?" he asked her.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Nori listened to Sima tell them about the first obstacle and that they would be equipped with bracelets that could be unlocked with keys throughout the course. However, it seemed like they would have consequences the longer they stayed on. She wasn't too sure how she felt about that. She didn't want any of them to be hurt, but it may be inevitable. The proctor soon dismissed they walked through the tunnel to their first challenge. It was freezing, but nothing that they couldn't handle as they had already endured this with Akuma sensei. Nori stopped when they came upon a closed door and watched Sigmund try to open it but was unsuccessful. Her eyes drifted towards a box that he opened and like they were told, the key was there. She folded her arms across her chest and she looked over at Nanami.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Nanami takes the key from Sigmund "I can try a few things, keys aren't always what they seem. I can try using the Release jutsu, to see if something is hidden. It might even show something about the bracelet or the door itself." She makes the hand-seal and uses the release technique, the key firmly between her hands. Any Genjutsu affecting them in the general could be dispelled.

She then opened her eyes seeing if anything including the door and key had changed...

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Entire group feels shocks in their bracelets lasting for 3 seconds. Their arms tense up enough for them to fall on their knees.

A few moments later, they feel another shock which was intensified for another 3 seconds.

Another few seconds pass by and they feel an even greater shock for another 3 seconds, this time enough to cripple them.

The door and key are unaffected.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Nanami grumbles as she stands "I get it, this complicates things. The person without the bracelet on.. They can use jutsu freely, but it will shock those with the bracelets on. Thus why he warned against using Jutsu. So we will have to decide who uses the key, and we will have to be selective when we use Jutsu." She looks at Sigmund "Its your call Captain.."

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Sigmund was on his knees, trying to recover from the extensive shocks with no preparation of it. He was confused though when Nanami explained about the jutsu use. He shook his head. "If that were true, why did we get shocked multiple times because of one jutsu use?" he asked as he got up and moved his arm around, trying to be rid of the tingling feeling. "It has to be something else, but thinking logically, a genjutsu would have been too easy," he began to explain as he held the key up and looked in the key whole of his bracelet. "What if this one key actually unlocks all of our bracelets and the other keys are just to throw us off?" he asked her cleverly, smirking at the thought of perhaps being right.

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Nanami stands back up and nearly growls in anger "Okay the longer we wait the worse its going to get. The longer we stand still, the worse the shocks will be. Sigmund-kun, pick one of us, use the key, then we can try it again or just continue on. We need to decide quickly!"

Chapter 2.7: Exam 2

Sigmund had been on the floor at this point as he allowed the shocks to pass throughout his body. He panted as he recovered yet again. "Ease up. We'll be fine. There's gotta be a trick to this. I'll give it a go," he replied as he inserted the key into the bracelet and turned it. The bracelet fell off his wrist and hit the ground. Once it did, Nori and Nanami felt another shock. The shocks got worse the more they received. Sigmund was free from shocks now and he held the key out.
