Battletech: The Dark Age (A Time of War)
The year is 3132, and the Inner Sphere is spiraling into disaster. Stone's great dream seems to be crumbling around itself as the HPG Network has gone dark, splinter groups and warlords rise from the Republic's own territories, and there is the ever hungry Successor States and Clans waiting to pounce. In the midst of this one System is preparing itself for the worst, and its ever vigilant protectors, the 12th Star Guards are not willing to watch war touch their home.

I'm looking for an additional 4-6 active players for a long term game that will begin just after the HPG network falls, go through to Fortress Republic, then continue on into 3145 and beyond. As the GM, I commit to keeping the game running for the whole stretch, and I hope to find players who are just as committed.

This game will be using Catalyst Labs 'A Time of War' series of Battletech rules, but the focus of the game will not be on the combat, but the characters interacting with each other and the impacts they will have on the history of the Inner Sphere. Please make sure to read the Setting information before sending an RTJ, as this is a semi-continuation of a previous game and thus the timeline has shifted slightly.

For any questions not covered in the game information, please use a private message there, and not post here.

Thank you and I hope to see you in game!

Battletech: The Dark Age and Beyond (A Time of War)
The year is now 3133, and as the Inner Sphere continues its descent into the Dark, companies of the 12th Star Guards find themselves spread throughout the Republic, once again free to wage war in defense of their homeland.

=-=-=-=-=

We're seeking an additional 4-5 active* players to join this long-running (and long-term planned) Battletech game set in an alternate universe of the Dark Age Era.

* - Capable of posting at least once every 2-3 days.

The focus of the game is on character roleplay and interactions, with GM controlled gameboard combat, affected by the players' actions and decisions. As such, players that are not only capable of creating characters with depth and personality, but also of recognizing the layers of other characters are preferred. There are many plotlines and sub-stories woven throughout the cast of characters, which will affect not only their own futures but the future of the Inner Sphere - we seek players that will add their own stories to the soup, as well as actively engage in the stories of others.

There are four Mechwarrior slots currently available: 2 in our scouting Lance of Light and Medium 'Mechs, and 2 in Assault 'Mechs for our Hammer Lance. Additionally, there is one slot open for a Battlearmor squad leader, but be warned that slightly more activity is required in that role: Squad leaders are responsible for NPC'ing the rest of their squad.

Slots are not first-come, first-served, but will be awarded based on quality of RTJ and resulting conversations with the GM. Please be sure to read the Setting Information BEFORE you submit an RTJ.

For any questions not covered in the game information, please use a private message there, and not post here.

A game is only as successful as the people that participate in it. This game not only thrives, but runs on the interaction between the characters. We want active players that care about ALL of the plotlines, not just their own. If you wish to show up once every two weeks and only interact with the GM, this is not the game for you. If you have no intention of reading and paying attention to the other players' posts (which will often contain valuable information fed to them by the GM for dissemination), this is not the game for you. It is not necessary - or expected - that all characters get along perfectly (although OOC civility is required), but interaction is the key. Interaction is what we want. Seek your glory, quest for immortality and your name in history books, aspire to command... or just a comfy retirement with a nice house by the lake... just remember that this is an ensemble cast, not a solo monologue.

We are definitely excited for new players, and I hope to see you in game!

Re: Battletech: The Dark Age and Beyond (A Time of War)
The year is now 3133, and as the Inner Sphere continues its descent into the Dark, companies of the 12th Star Guards find themselves spread throughout the Republic's prefectures. One such company, the Black Dogs, is stationed on the planet of Northwind to stand against the threat of the Steel Wolves, their services under contract to the Republic.

=-=-=-=-=

In a twist on the usual recruitment, we're seeking two active* players interested in assuming control of already-existing mechwarrior characters. (More details on these characters below.) While this may not be ideal for some, it could be an excellent opportunity for players interested in the Battletech setting, but not well-versed in the mechanics of character creation, to get their feet wet with some great roleplay.

The focus of this game is on character roleplay and interactions, with GM-controlled gameboard combat that is affected by the players' actions and decisions. There are many plotlines and sub-stories woven throughout the cast, and PC actions will affect not just the present of 3133, but generations to come - Literally, as the game is planned to run for decades farther along the timeline.

* - Capable of posting at least once every 2-3 days.
=-=-=-=-=

The characters in need of replacement players are recently-integrated into the company, and as such are still fairly nebulous in their personalities, with only bits of their background stories brought out into public light. This leaves plenty of room for their new controllers to personalize them, and make them their own. The fixed details of both characters are as follows:

- Male Medium 'mech pilot, combat style centered around swift in-and-out tactics, accustomed to working with Battle Armor. About to be twenty-one years old, still in his first Tour of Duty with the 12th Star Guards, originally from the regiment that views everyone as 'family'. Friendly and outgoing, born and raised in the jungles of the continent, devoted to the military and the tradition of service. Loves pineapple.

- Male Assault 'mech pilot, combat style centered around long-range artillery and sniping attacks. Twenty-three years old, just starting his second Tour of Duty with the 12th Star Guards. Born and raised in the outskirts of his District, a farmboy-turned-mechwarrior - the first of his family to operate a 'mech. Extremely good with a rifle, for a mechwarrior, and fond of target shooting for fun.

=-=-=-=-=

Standard disclaimer: This game runs on interaction between the characters. We want active players that care about not only their plotline, but those of other characters as well. If you wish to show up once every two weeks and only interact with the GM, this is not the game for you. If you are not willing to read and pay attention to other players' posts (which will often contain valuable information fed to them by the GM for dissemination), this is not the game for you. Characters are not expected to all get along, but civility towards other players in the OOC is required.

Re: Battletech: The Dark Age and Beyond (A Time of War)
The year is now 3134, and as the Inner Sphere continues its descent into the Dark, companies of the 12th Star Guards find themselves spread throughout the Republic's prefectures. One such company, the Black Dogs, is in the midst of defending Terra against the threat of the Steel Wolves, their services under contract to the Republic of the Sphere even as they wearily look forward to returning home.

=-=-=-=-=

Unique to our usual recruiting efforts, we're seeking active* players interested in starting as Mechwarrior Cadets at First Sword Military College, the 12th Star Guards' own military academy. Currently attending their last semester of school, Cadet players will be integrated into the current player Company at their graduation. This provides not just roleplaying opportunities for the fresh faces to experience while the Black Dogs finish their current arc, but really allows inexperienced players interested in the Battletech setting, but not well-versed in the mechanics of character creation, to get their feet wet in the setting.

The focus of this game is on character roleplay and interactions, with GM-controlled gameboard combat on the battlefield (based entirely on existing PC and 'Mech stats) that is affected by the players' actions and decisions. There are many plotlines and sub-stories woven throughout the cast, and PC actions will affect not just the present of 3134, but generations to come - Literally, as the game is planned to run for decades farther along the timeline.

* - Capable of posting at least two to three times a week.
