Rebuilding After the Zombie Plague (Adult)

Inspiration: World War Z (book, not movie [general tone, focus on humanity and people rebuilding, slow zombies]), Night/Dawn/Day/etc. of the Dead (movies [slow zombies, focus on humanity, groups of survivors], Jericho (TV show [focus on humanity in one town]), Dead Rising (video game [dark humor, minor variety of zombies in that they are more dangerous at night, use of psychopaths]), The Rezort (movie [idea that "fresh" zombies are faster/stronger]), The Walking Dead (television show, first two seasons [grounded story focusing on humanity, zombies are slow and generally easy to deal with], also comic book [zombies are easy to deal with, constant cast of character being killed off/refreshed]), Fallout universe (video game, post-apocalyptic societies [re-purposing old items for a new use, building up from the foundations of the old world, different sects/organizations])

Setting: No place was immune to the long-running effects of the plague, but some areas were more resistant than others. The town of White Haven in western Pennsylvania, a few hours north of Pittsburgh, has survived better than most. Although its infrastructure is in shambles and the buildings that are standing are in a state of disrepair, it offers many benefits to the hardworking settlers looking for a new home.

The soil is suitable and there is a good amount of arable land. The junkyard on the eastern side of town possesses a vast amount of scrap material waiting to be recycled. In the hills upland of town natural springs produce fresh water far from any points of pollution. The old radio station has a small but working antennae ideal for attracting new settlers, once it gets powered up anyway. The town is physically in a difficult-to-reach area with excellent natural barriers and boundaries, but this is a double-edged sword because it makes accessing the town difficult for people in groups.

Beginning in spring of the year 2028, White Haven has attracted a group of traveling settlers. They intend to make this town their new home, a place safe and away from the dangers of the rest of the world, a capital in the region to begin a new society.

Welcome to The White Haven Assembly: Year One.

Addition: Eleven years ago the plague first appeared on a fishing trawler out of Argentina. The infection spread worldwide (a few places survived relatively unscathed, mostly island regions, distant areas of Siberia and China) and zombies got all up in everybody's shit. Governments, society, the whole shebang collapsed within a year and a half. The rest of the time since then has been a mad scramble for survival. In the last three years, people have regained a stronger foothold. Smaller communities and isolated/rural areas have far fewer zombies than they have in the last ten years. Major cities are the last repositories of the undead, but the numbers there are mind boggling.

This history is intentionally slightly vague. Your characters wouldn't know what's going on, and shouldn't know. It also leaves room for lots of character background and such.

Zombie infection is spread through saliva only, so that means bites are pretty much the only way to contract it. Zombies will eat almost any meat, not just humans, and can be easily distracted or lured by setting out bait. Standard killing of zombies is in effect: destroy brain, burning, etc. The fresher the zombie the more deadly they are.

Game Rules

1. This is an Adult game for all of the Adult reasons. No need to participate/write in it, and don't make a character entirely focused on sexual interactions.

2. Be polite, civil, friendly. If you don't like the OOC you don't need to participate in it. Work shit out with each other privately, but don't hesitate to include me in the discussion.

3. Posts should be higher quality than massive quantity. Sometimes you don't need to write hundreds of words, but a minimum of two paragraphs per post is an easy-to-reach minimum. There is no minimum posting rate, but either A:) write with people who match your pace or B:) be flexible enough that people can post "past you"

4. Color tags aren't necessary, but writing in third-person past-tense is.

5. There aren't any solid rules for in-game situations. I can implement them easily if there's need for it, and the rules will be behind the scenes.

6. Everything you write, contribute, etc. in this game is yours. If the time comes and you decide to move on from the game, everything you've contributed is yours to take with you if you like, including your character(s), all of your posts, etc.

7. Don't be a jerk.

To You, the Player

Looking for people interested in a different take on the zombie game. We'll be stationary and are going to start building up a town to become a sanctuary, of sorts. This is a very character driven game, with GM input of course, but it's up to you guys to work together and write your own stories.

Plenty of room for creative input, really want to see people focused on writing. Potentially room for a large cast, with the right input from the players.

Rebuilding After the Zombie Plague (Adult)

Bump! Jump in now to get your foot in the door early for this settlement-building zombie game. We aren't looking for crazy levels of mechanical realism, but could use a lot of characters devoted to stuff like agriculture, education, and... well... pretty much anything besides engineering, we've got lots of that.

Current Time Frame
Just had a six-day time jump. Characters have discovered a small food cache and are celebrating by eating up a minor feast. It's night time, and nothing bad is going to happen.

Probably.

Upcoming Time Frame
A time leap of a few days. Characters will be clearing out the bus station in this podunk town, the final resting place of the previous denizens of the town (and their assorted supplies) and also of the dozens of zombies still inside. It's going to be one hell of a show!

To become one of the official Assembly (the first citizens of this new town) you must join no later than this time frame!

Extended Time Frame
Jumping forward 1-6 months. The first steps of settlement building will have been finished. A wall is constructed (or whatever the players decide on), homes are selected, and people can start rebuilding more permanently.

Lots of stuff on the books and coming up, looking for some active posters and writers who want to get in on the fun!
