Re: Clothing & Fashion

Ha, you should talk to Landwalker, when I started up a steampunk project and brought him in to observe and cast input, he had a very finite opinion of his interests in this n' that.  Turns out he's more of a Victorian purist, than a strap gears and ecoplasm to everything type.

The item you have requested has a problem with one or more of the metadata files that describe it, which prevents us from displaying this page.

If you would like to report this problem as an error report, you may do so here.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

Well this was a surprising find

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion

the Lolita fashion fad of Japan is based on dressing up as a Victorian child outfit.

Interesting pics and more links.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

Does anyone know where I can find a good Inverness coat?  Preferrably in black or grey, rather than brown.  Gentleman's Emporium had one, but it sold out before I could order it and I can't seem to find one to my liking.  I'm quite disappointed, it was the perfect thing to finish off my first outfit I'm putting together.

*grumble*

It would just have to happen that the day *after* I put in my order and chose another coat they have the Inverness back in stock.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

I feel your pain sir, do you know how much of a bear it is to get a genuine australian drovers coat imported into the states? Much the same predicament, Had everything lined up at last and they went out of stock, and a week after I decided to bite the bullet and buy something 'made in america' they came back in stock. Very frustrating.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

Hey all! Just joined the forum. Anyone here read the Ladies of Mischief blog? My friends and I found them through our fave knitting site. We're working through the projects in their book Needles and Artifice.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

In reply to Digital Mastermind (msg # 3):

This, this and this. I need to look up more of this Landwalker fellow. :) That's what's sort of driven me away from this current incarnation of steampunk, the presumption that the simple application of gears to things (and making it all brassy, or integrating it with goggles) makes it steampunk.

It doesn't. It's ridiculous. It's a gears/goggles fetish. UsedVic has a 'steampunk' section which seems to mainly consist of various reworkings of the same pair of goggles. STAHP.

Re: Clothing & Fashion

That link to Yaya's website isn't quite valid any more. She's starting a new one in 7 days?

I use Yahoo for my search engine. For those of you who may not, here's a link to the image page when I search for Steampunk Fashion. I suppose something similar may come up on other search engines... I dunno.
