Interest in Star Wars Saga Edition rebel cell game?

I had initially thought of this as a Rebellion era game, but actually think that it could work just as well set post The Last Jedi. Up to the players.

Starting on an Outer Rim world the characters are sympathetic to the rebellion, or at least want to see their world free of the Empire's control, but haven't acted on it until now. Somehow (TBD) the characters join together and start to fight the good fight, likely spurred on by an action out in the galaxy, but not formally part of the rebellion yet. As such, the characters would only be level 2 or so.

The game would be sandbox, starting off either trying to liberate the planet themselves or escaping the planet trying to find the rebellion to help them. I am planning more of an old school feel to the game, akin to Dark Forces/Jedi Knight video games, than whatever feel Star Wars Rebels has (upon discovering a spray painting Mandalorian, it lost all credibility in my mind and I have not watched it).

I would be open to a force sensitive character, but keep in mind that Jedi are still be hunted in both eras.

I am open to Adult classification if there is interest in that.

I think the Rebellion era before the Death Star has the best potential.  There are some good potential ideas like in the Ahsoka novel where the Empire is destroying a planet for a mundane but evil reason that could fit in well with a campaign.

I'd be very down for either setting, but while I love the new canon, I really like the nostalgia of the Rebel Alliance vs the Empire.

I have to agree that the classic Rebellion era is still the best.  The newer canon just seems so forced and disjointed.

Rebellion era it is.

I was thinking of having destruction of the first Death Star be the trigger for the characters due to both the legitimacy of the rebellion and the Empire cracking down to keep planets joining. However, have it set (not long) before it gives a bit more freedom and time for the characters to run around before things get even worse for rebels.

I'd be interested in the Rebellion era, and post-ANH makes sense, since the Rebellion is scrambling looking for a new main base of operations after the evacuation of Yavin.

Depending on how our GM feels about campaigns effecting canon events, perhaps a milestone in the campaign could involve the PCs having a minor hand in the destruction of the Death Star? I'm down for any time in the Rebellion era honestly

Setting things a bit before the Death Star goes poof gives a bit more psychological headroom for the players to influence things.  You might not be Rogue One but there are things you could do behind the scenes of that canon.

So there is interest enough to create the game. I had hoped for more feedback about the kind of game people want but it doesn't like desires aren't very specific :)

I will review how other games here are structured and then create the game shortly.

Interested? Yes, very much so.

Now, as a setting, pre-ANH is perhaps better as it offers more freedom to go at various directions. For an example, there is a chance for the characters to be the ones to scout the bases for the Rebel Alliance (Yavin, Hoth, Dantooine etc.) and perhaps to mix themselves in the procurement of Death Star Plans in some manner. Or, they could get in to forming a strike team/fighter squadron not unlike the Rogue Squadron at some point.

Edit: having read the thread further, I decided to enter a few thoughts of my own.

I didn't realize you wanted input other than interest.

I generally agree with what mediiic said, though I think those things work post-ANH as well, since the Rebels are scrambling after having to abandon their main base of operations. As for a strike team, I think something closer to Wraith Squadron (a hybrid fighter squadron/ground team) would allow for more variety both in characters and in scenarios.

I'm generally a more sandbox type of guy, so having more options available and being able to tackle things as we choose to appeals to me, but I know that kind of player/character-driven plotline isn't everybody's bag.

Hmm my fault about the input as I didn't specifically ask for it, just assuming based on the name of the forum. Still new here. I have been scouring a lot of the SWSE games on this site and building them into my own, finding all the things I need to include.

Both pre- and post- AHN have been raised as options and I think I'm going to go with pre-ANH but not by much and depending how things go could end up post-ANH easily.

I plan on bringing the characters together at the start, each independently wanting to to find and rescue a crashed rebel pilot in order to join the rebellion, as it would be difficult to join if you don't have the right contacts and don't want to be picked up by the Empire. The game will be primarily be sandbox after you complete the first adventure, either staying on the starting planet or launching out to the stars.
