Mekton Zeta?

Is there any interest in a Mekton Zeta game?  It's an older anime style mecha game that uses the same system as Cyberpunk 2020.  I have a few ideas, but I want to know if there are players first.

I would be interested too! MZ (just Mekton) when I first got it, had been one of my favorite settings/games for a long while.

I would also be interested.  Would you be sticking with the base MZ book, or also including the various additions from Mekton Zeta Plus as well?

That's good enough for me.  I'll start working on something, likely an older campaign I used to run.  There may be a copy of that spreadsheet on my laptop or Drive.  I need to go through the books again to come up with whatever limitations I need to keep things on a fairly even level, but I will be allowing material from the MZ+ book.  Give me some time to get everything set up.  You will hear from me again.

Do you plan on people starting or using a generic Mecha or mecha frame, or do you want to do ground up mecha building?  Pros and cons for each, naturally...

Everyone can make their own, but they'll start out in generics.  The first mission will be to steal the custom suits.

I am torn... but think I'd probably want to give this a go.  As many problems as the Fuzion system had (and as big a trainwreck as Cyberpunk 3 was), I do have a nostalgic fondness for the old games.  Even the streetfighter one.

It's definitely a system of its time, but it seems like a little bit of polishing up via some modest house rules could go a much longer way towards modernizing it than a lot of its contemporaries.

Plus... robots, man.  Giant. Robots.

I might need a couple of weeks before I'm ready to put up a thread.  I promise you will not be forgotten.

Wasn't that the system used for the original Bubblegum Crisis RPG?

In reply to Hunter (msg # 13):

Bubblegum Crisis uses the FUZION rules, but the hardsuit and vehicles were build with the MTS.

MZ is more closely related to the original Cyberpunk game.  It's slightly different from CP2020 in which attacks are contests between attack rolls and dodge rolls.  The chief complaint I hear is how easy it is to munchkin out.  I expect it and plan accordingly.  It is an anime action style game so the PC's are expected to outclass large amounts of cannon fodder.  I do try to bring danger in other forms to keep it from being a boring kill-fest, though.

Still a few more details to work out before I open up a game.  Maybe this week if nothing else pops up.

I've got a thread up so people can start working on characters.  Been busier than expected so still some details to fill in.
