IC: God game; either dX or D&D 3.5 Immortal Handbook

First off, I anticipate a different choice for systems being suggested. I'm sorry, no, I really want to play with one of these two systems as the conduit. :/ I know there are much better systems. These are just the two I'd have fun with GMing.

That said, when I say god, we're talking on par with the "worst" of Superman, but not NEARLY omnipotent. Still well beyond any mortal power. Certainly though, only human in an identifiable anthropomorphic way.

The game would be played atypical to a traditional D&D 3.5 game; even epic. The attitude of PVP would be allowed, although it would be indirect at worst, but not required. Basically organic opposition/cooperation.

Each "event" would have three phases, with no clear beginning or end, but all co-current.
  1. The Social phase would essentially be what some like to call "roleplaying" talking; interacting with other gods and mortals, throwing parties or hosting shows.
  2. The Command phase would be a private development of your character's ambitions and HOW they were going about fulfilling them. This can be one sentence (although most likely you'll add to that) or several posts of a couple paragraphs. Try to be succinct, if you can, though.
  3. The Resolution Phase would be the clash or collaboration of gods' command. This may be one trim note of success or failure, or it could be a developing contest or miracle.

WHAT would the game be about? That's entirely reactionary. I'll have between two and six sleeper 'players' that I'll control. Those gods will make alliances and cause feuds, like I imagine a PC of that domain would.

That said, would anyone be interested in this idea.

I would love to try out the Immortals handbook again. Haven't used it for ages and the rules are really interesting.

I think I am leaning towards Immortals handbook, at this point then.

Of note, combat would be likely (eventually), but focus would be on developing social and world-change events. It isn't about "winning" or completing a "save the world" mission. So, unlike most D&D games, it won't have trail of a railroad. Nor a direct entity as an antagonist.

Heh...no, I don't like that, sorry. As I said in the first paragraph, I want to use one of the systems I listed. Probably Immortal Handbook D&D 3.5.

Anyway, this is an IC, not advice post. I have a clear idea of what I'm proposing. I'm just gauging interest in it.

I would be interested in this. I have had the Immortals Handbook for years and have never had a chance to try it out in an actual game.

I have ever only used it with one group. It was a party where the players originally started at first level and worked all the way into epic. It was set in the D&D setting of Mystara where ascendancy to immortality is a thing. I'm not sure how far into the deity progression they got but I think the rules are quite interesting. In many ways they have some resemblance with the Immortal rules of Wrath of the Immortals boxed set (not the gold box).
