[Adult] Interest Check:  Cyberpunk 2077 Play as Trauma Team

The concept is based on what said in the title, theme will be adult due to the cyberpunk theme and I might use D&D 5e as the system to make it easy for me. I'll be homebrewing and adjust some rule to work properly with the sci-fi theme but all in all, this will be the idea.

I might make this a west march type of style where players can run solo or team up to go to missions "Rescue" patients and emergencies around the city.

What does anyone think? I shall make this and GM it if anyone is interested.

To anyone who barely has any idea on cyberpunk 2077, its fine if you have barely or no experience on it, its okay to explore the world on your own as your character. But here is a brief summary of what the trauma team is:

They are a specialized and elite medical response unit operating in the dystopian city of Night City. They provide rapid emergency medical services to high-paying clients, including corporate executives and VIPs. When someone subscribed to their services is injured, the Trauma Team swoops in with armed paramedics and a high-tech AV-4 flying ambulance to rescue and extract the patient from dangerous situations. Their motto is "Life First," but their services come at a steep price, making them an exclusive and sought-after medical resource in Night City's dangerous and unforgiving world.

I love everything about it except the part where you're using D&D 5e which unfortunately for me, puts me out of the running :(
Based on the rarity of online Cyberpunk games you shouldn't have any trouble finding other players though.

I'm curious as to how it will work switching the systems around, but I'd give it a shot.

In reply to jebrick (msg # 5):

I actually do have that book and will be incorporating a lot of their rule set into 5e.

I can only agree with this. Beyond D&D5e being thoroughly bland as a system for me, I cant help but feel there is a strong setting / system mismatch. Just my opinion. Aside from that, good luck with the game.

I third this. I would be very interested but I don't beleive it can be effectively run with that system.

I would recommend shadowrun (with or w/o magic), or cyberpunk, or savage worlds which has a cyberpunk module.

I have actually GMed this game idea in shadowrun and it was very successful. Good time had by everyone. I think you have a great idea for a compaign here and I wish you the very best of luck with it!

I'd actually recommend against Cyberpunk for this game - Trauma Team is all about dropping into a hot landing zone, guns blazing to drag the patient out. CP does combat very well, meaning players die, a lot, quickly.

I'd go Savage Worlds if anything - admittedly I've not used firearms in but at least if characters do start dropping like flies you can put a new one together in minutes rather than hours.

You could do this in CP-Red very easily.

quote:
Trauma Team is all about dropping into a hot landing zone, guns blazing to drag the patient out.

This over and over again does not make a game. You would have to be like a Trauma Team: Special Extraction Unit or something that does stuff other than drop in guns blazing and leave otherwise the game will get stale quickly.

That or every "Mission" is a normal mission that goes wrong and your flying ambulance gets shot down or there is a Dragoon guarding the client.

Re: [Adult] Interest Check:  Cyberpunk 2077 Play as Trauma Team

As an Incarnum fan, I discovered that someone had the magnificient idea of making Pathinder's Akasha into cybertech.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic...rules/akashic-magic/

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic...akasha-as-cybertech/

If you are still thinking of a system, this can be a great d20 way to play the game.

There's an alternate campaign idea for Shadowrun which is identical to the game idea that you're putting forward.   It's referred to as DocWagon, and I'd also recommend giving Shadowrun a looking over.
