Inspiration from old SSI CRPs

Someone mentioned those old AD&D 2E computer games released by Strategic Simulations, Inc. between 1988 and 1994. I played them all back in the day and now own new legal copies of most of them ever since GoG obtained copyright and re-released them.

Although it wasn't one of the better ones, Gateway to the Savage Frontier has potential for adaptation and improvement. It has a relatively simple plot with twists, and the campaign and gameworld has decent variety. But any new game inspired by it would be different--new setting, new campaign, perhaps different game system.

Who would be interested in something like that and in what way? I'm talking medium to long term.

"Your first job as an adventurer was a simple escort mission that paid surprisingly well. Arriving in the destiation city, you were discharged and paid, and stashed some of your pay in the city's Vault. Then you went off to carouse and enjoy your new riches. But your drink must hae been drugged, because you wake up in an alley in the middle of the night with nothing but the clothes you're wearing. And the Vault doesn't open until morning!"

What do you think?

System? Levels?

I fondly remember those games (though it's been long enough since I played them that I don't recall the actual plots) and would be interested in playing something based on them.  Maybe.

System and levels (and possibly co-GM) would depend on what people want. I'm guessing most people will want D&D/Pathfinder but I kinda like BFRPG with some supplements for extra races, classes, and gear.
