IC and Help a Fable-like game.

I don't know if people remember Fable 2. I want to run something like that using the D&D 3.5 e rules.
I would be expanding it in some places, by allowing some races and tossing in incarnum and psionics.
In other cases, I don't know how high to rate the game as I will be including dynasty creation by the PCs, even though some of that will be Fade to Black. I know it needs to be at minimum Mature, but I don't know if I need to slap an Adult rating on it.

If I need to put an Adult label on it; then there is a race of two I will add that will justify the rating since they have different views on body modesty.

I need the clarification so I can build it. I have ideas for the main quest and side quests.

Okay I'll try my best. What are you planning? The game i'm thinking about isn't very adult in itself.

I've been working on a new system for a Fable based game for 2-3 years or so... off and on. I tried existing systems, but I couldn't get any of them to do what I wanted.

Also what is the extent of the violence going to be? Since what you described isn't going to be adult by sex content

In a game based on one of the first ones to give its players STDs you're gonna make that assumption? Somehow I don't see that panning out.

I stand corrected.

The PCs are other members in either the gypsy camp or Bowerstone. While they parallel the Hero in places, they are trying to avoid the bulk of the events around the Spire and avoid being captured to be used as fuel in Lucien's schemes.

I am using "dynasty creation" as a way to talk around some of the more sensitive topics.

Well think about it stds aren't sexual in and of themselves and can easily be played out as just another disease. Though i do admit it's been awhile since i have played it and i didn't have much sex. Though adult is best. Yeah definitely especially since i expect players of the game to be wanting to ramp it up to adult if it was not.

I've got it on Games on Demand and I needed a break from GTA V, so I'm in the middle of... somewhere around my 5th playthrough? Still the boss has spoken on the subject, so I ain't holding it against anyone. Anywho, I don't have anything from d20 system games so I'm probably out on this one for all but the most stylistic advice (e.g. some of the more grimy aspects of the series).

*truncated because I wasn't sure if rpol's "quote too much" detectors would bug me.

IC and Help a Fable-like game.

I have access to STD tables and they would be used, I'd also be replacing Will use for the players with incarnum just to increase diversity in spell use. Different spells would show up in a grimoire like the Necronomicon. Since Skorm and Avo and Eggtor didn't make it through the intervening time between the First and Second games. I need to generate secret cults to them as the Order of Light as opposed to Avo and I believe the Temple of Shadows is opposed to Skorm.
Players to Balverines; maybe if so then the gore level could be quite high.

Ok, since this looks more and more like an Adult game; I'll add the other Races which will remain a surprise until I can get enough interest and therefore a game posted.

So far I have 2 players judging from this IC thread, I'd like more, but I'll start generating a game.

I'm using D&D 3.5 as I know it best and would be drawing from Unearthed Arcana.

Didn't remember that last one.

I thought Skorm was the bad guy and Avo would be the good guy. If memory serves, that would mean "aligned with" is the word you were looking for.

Don't know enough about any d20 games (or like them well enough) to want to play in the system. I'm only coming at this from a strictly Fable perspective.

Re: IC and Help a Fable-like game.

That is 100% fine as most of the creatures, magic items etc are going to have a Fable base rather than d20.

The Temple of Light in Fable canon demolished the Temple of Avo and Temple of Shadows did the same for Skorm.

Yeah, but they took over where the previous temples left off rather than trying to spread an opposing message. Temple of Avo/Light are the good guys, Temple of Skorn/Shadow are the bad guys.

Fable even calls the Temple of Avo quest "Temple of Light":
http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Temple_of_Light_(Quest)
The quest is identical to "Donating to the Light" in Fable 2
http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Donating_to_the_Light

The Chapel of Skorm quest from 1 and Sacrificing to the Shadows from 2 are also identical quests.
http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Chapel_of_Skorm_(Quest)
http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Sacrificing_to_the_Shadows

Fable gives you Avo's Tear for doing the "Good (Light)" thing and not killing Theresa (nevermind that her encouragements to Lucien are what caused him to build the Tattered Spire and bring about The Crawler in 3). Same goes for the weapons you get for doing Temple of Light and Sacrificing to the Shadows respectively

Fable 2's "Avo is Dead" makes a joke about the Temple of Light and Shadows replacing their respective gods and while it doesn't explicitly say this I think that it means replacing them instead of opposing them them. Mostly because of all that stuff above I said.

Re: IC and Help a Fable-like game.

Please stick to the actual topic of this thread, which is whether you would be interested in the proposed game.  Discussions of source material is something that can take place in the game itself, should it be created.
