rule question on copyrighted material

First I'll add I have a disability in written language so the only reason I am doing this is it is WWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY faster than sifting through trying to read all the fine print of every page or rules to try and figure this out.... I've read the rules plenty of time i just got memory problems and the rules of this sight are all blarged up with the rules of 50 other sites at this point on obscure points like this that never come up....

So the game i'm Co-GMing has a situation where basicaly ANYTHING can happen and ANYTHING can show up... so if some one wants to say be freaking a Tomas the tank train or something ridiculous like that, can they?  or dose that brake a site rule to do so blatantly or would they have to do so obviously instead.

It's perfectly legal here. There are games where people play as a part of the dc universe or the marvel one.

I understand I have been in this for months and under fair use and parody it is perfectly legal. There are many games which take advantage of that. There are no site rules i know of that would cause a ton of games to be taken down.

I believe it is perfectly legal for the fact that it falls under fanfiction, right? I mean, going through all the game lists, there's plenty of games that use materials from actual movies, tv shows, animes, and even video games. I think as long as we give credit, there isn't much harm to it, IMO of course.

I think it's even looser than fanfiction. There are some authors who are firmly against fanfiction, and have stated they will use all means to have things taken down (and, being an avid McCaffrey fan, know that before she changed her mind she was quite successful in killing off Pern fanfic), but not sure they have the same success rate for RPGs, unless they're actually making money off them.

Marvel is not a great example as they have from time to time ventured in agreements for licensed games.

Written novels have always seemed the most dubious, because it uses a similar medium as the original work. But pretty sure there's no issue.
