IC: Old-School Marvel RPG

Interest Check: I sort of have a hankering to GM a game of the old-school Marvel RPG. I was alive in the 80s, and I know the system already...

Details:

--Would NOT be set in the Marvel Universe. This would be a dimension where powered heroes and villains are starting to show up for the first time (for a special reason).

--I would want the tone to be NOT the dark end of the theoretical slider-- no sex, no decapitations, etc. I'm not saying it would have to be all goofy lighthearted fun (though I would be okay if all players wanted that), but I don't want the dark end of the street.

--I would be interested in having players play both sides-- I'd want at least one player to play a hero, and at least one to play a criminal...

Would anyone be interested?

FASERIP?

Random character generation, or point buy (for example, http://classicmarvelforever.co...with_great_power.htm )?

Contemporary setting, or non-contemporary (such as a non-Marvel version of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_1602 )?

FASERIP?

...I'm not 100% sure what your question is. Yes, I'm talking about the 1980s Marvel RPG that used F-A-S-E-R-I-P as the ability scores...

If you mean "would it be the clone/knock-off of the Marvel RPG known as FASERIP," then the answer is no, it would be the Marvel RPG rules.

Whichever one of those the player wanted. I might also work with them on a combination of the two if they wanted.

Contemporary setting, unless all players agreed that they wanted something else instead.

Re: IC: Old-School Marvel RPG

I didn't know that there was such a clone...  O_o

Non-contemporary is more interesting to me than contemporary.

However, 1980s Marvel RPG (F-A-S-E-R-I-P ability scores) and point-buy character creation is still quite interesting to me...  :)

Re: IC: Old-School Marvel RPG

IF we mean the same game (and the rules I have are for the advanced version, but I think that's just an expansion)I'm interested.

We're talking about the same thing.

I shall also mark you as interested.

Out of curiosity, would you both want to be heroes, or what? It would be useful to me to know if I could have at least 1 villain...

You want a mix of Heroes and Villains? I'm no longer interested. My preference is PvE, not PvP.

Re: IC: Old-School Marvel RPG

Just to make sure, we are talking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...s_(role-playing_game) , including https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ultimate_Powers_Book ?

I would definitely want to be a hero rather than a villain.

I am also less interested in PvP, although it is not necessarily a deal-breaker for me...

Not only do I respect that (although I... guess you missed it in the original post?), I might even change my mind about that part if no one wants to play a villain. So I'll count you as interested on the condition that that changes, but not otherwise...

One person has also expressed interest to me privately, so that's at least 2, maybe 3, depending... anyone else?

Always interested in Classic Marvel!

While I prefer everyone to be on the same side, either good or evil (an evil campaign would be interesting), I think it would be doable in Play by Post to make a Heroes vs. Villains game work.

I agree.

So I've got one hero and one villain so far, and you... so that's 3 so far... you wanna be hero or villain, Bod Man?

I'd prefer PvE myself, but I'm still game. Hero, of course.

Would be interested to play a villain, but don't know the system. How steep is the learning curve?

Super easy and intuitive system. I can be a villain with you.
