Strange Ports

Slowly each of you falls back into a routine of sleeping and taking guard.  After the previous events you have taken to holding up within the captains' quarters with the occasional quest outside to see if the fog has lifted.  Alas, vision is still slim to none and you all settle in, resigned to whatever fate the waves may hold.

At some point during the evening (you're assuming anyway as it's still pitch black out and the fog is choking out the sky) you are all startled by a *BUMP* that reverberates through the ship.  Racing outside you are dismayed to find that vision has not increased, however, you can just barely make out what appears to be...lights!  Looking over the side you see even more lanterns and it would almost appear as if you may have ended up at a dock (the fog is still too thick to actually be able to see the dock but judging from what appears to be hanging lanterns, it may be safe to assume).  A brief pause responds with silence, signalling that the canvas overhead has ceased flapping in the wind.

Onyx readies himself and then looks for cargo netting or rope to be able to lower himself and the others down to the dock area.  If he's able to find such already secured then he moves confidently to the lower area to see just how thick the fog is at ground level.

Rubbing his eyes, and stretching, Stoney wakes up.
What a night, I feel like I slept on logs, oh wait, ha ha!
Laughing to himself as he rolls out of the dingy, onto the pier.
Humph.  I remember climbing in, but something is different.
Sits down, on the pier to take in the sights, and a few deep breaths.  TRying toi gain his equilibrium back.

In reply to Onyx (msg # 2):

Being jolted awake by the boat coming to a sudden stop, Larzander gathered his belongings and went topside to see what had happened. "Will this blasted fog ever lift?" he asked whomever was standing within ear shot. "At least we've made landfall. But where the hell are we?" he said moving to slide over the edge of the boat and onto the dock and dry, unmoving land..

Arryn had been on watch when the lights came into view and while he was overjoyed that they were nearing land he was curious how they could end up gliding into port safely without anyone steering the ship. This was a bad omen and he was sure many more would follow it. He woke any one still sleeping even Lothrin and set about gathering his things before dropping down to the dock.

”Does anyone find it strange we managed to dock here as if guided in by professional sailors?” he said to Larzander.

In reply to Arryn Andrer (msg # 5):

"Aye." Larzander replied. "Very strange indeed. As if something or someone guided the ship right to this very dock."

"Probably just chance." the barbarian added with a smirk. "I wouldn't wander too far from your weapons if I were you."

Before Onyx has a chance to secure any sort of rigging Larzander takes the leap of faith and...lands squarely upon a wooden dock, as one would expect (or in this case, hope).  Looking up towards his fellow crew mates he finds the fog is still so dense that he can't even discern the top ledge.

Peering around he notices the lights they had seen were indeed storm lanterns hanging off the old pilings that make up the support structure.  The glow from the lanterns appear to continue off into the distance but after only a few yards the light becomes extremely faint, making any certainty about the docks or land impossible.

Suddenly, down to his right, he hears a voice.

"What a night, I feel like I lept on logs, oh wait, ha ha!"

Out of the mist rolls a human form.

"Humph.  I remember climbing in, but something is different."

Larz cracked a smile. "Who might you be little man?" the warrior asked as he offered the other man a hand up. "Larzander Gunderzen is the name. Any idea where we are?"

In reply to Larzander Gunderzen (msg # 8):

Grabbing the hand that is offered.
"Well hello Larzander Gunderzen, I am Stoney Applesmith, but you can call me Stoney.  Just Stoney."
Pulling himself up. Stretches & cracks his back.

"We are at the docks.  I came down from the monastery to the ba...walking and an insatiable sleep overcame me.  I crawled into this little boat, and fell asleep."
Looking around.
Sure I know where we are, the fog makes things look different, but I can take you to the local inn, before I head back to the monastery.  Much to do, if I don't get my chores done the headmaster will have my hide.
Pats his pockets & backpack, grabs a wine skin.
"Care for a quick drink before we head off to the inn?"

OOC
Stoney obviously doesn't realise he isn't in his "home" city, yet.

Larzander smiled, "Aye, that'd be nice." he said taking the wine skin from Stoney. The hulking warrior took a couple of swallows and handed the wine skin back. "Many thanks Stoney." he said wiping his mouth on the back of his sleeve.

"Arryn, the dock seems stable enough." Larz called out to the man on the boat. "And there's a lad down here says he can get us to an inn."
