In reply to Larzander Gunderzen (msg # 54):

No luck with his sling...AGAIN decides to try it one more time.
"Just once more.  Please. please help save these townsfolk & my friends!"
Spinning the sling overhead, after he loaded a perfectly round, smooth stone.
"I really dont want to get too close, and fight them with my hammer."
Stone goes soaring through the air, so quickly that you lose sight of it in the darkness until.  THUD.  Another solid hit, square in the chest.

Again the wounded monstrosity lunges forward towards Larz, its first strike catching him across the shoulder and neck, narrowly avoiding a deep tear.  As it swings wildly for a second strike, a stone sails in from the night and smacks into the creatures chest with a sickening thud; the force of the impact sending the beast staggering back several steps and gasping for air.

10:44, Today: The Powers That Be rolled 2 using 1d6. Damage (x2) = 4

The second creature also lunges at the lone fighter, digging one, pointed, dirty claw through the side of his armor and boring a large whole under his ribs.  As it brings around its other arm for another strike, it catches into the first monster (staggering backwards) tearing a large section of arm flesh off and knocking it to the ground.

In reply to The Powers That Be (msg # 57):

Bleeding from his shoulder and neck as well as the deep wound in his chest. Larzander let out another long howl of rage. He swung the sword in his hands at the beast before him, the arching blow going wide. Gritting his teeth he recovered and swung the blade down from over his head with all his might connecting in a bone crunching and devastating blow that could be heard back at the wall.

"Yes!  Get them Larz, we have them on their heels!"
Loading another stone.  Careful to do exactly like he did the times he struck the creature.
"Pelor, or luck, I must do things the exact same way!"
Almost like chanting a spell:
"Just once more.  Please. Please help save these townsfolk & my friends!"
spinning the sling overhead.
Chanting once:
"I really dont want to get too close, and fight them with my hammer."
Releasing the stone at the exact right time, the stone flies and strikes the beast he hit last time.

Hit AC 0 for 3 damage

Dropping down off the palisade and into a crouch Ondrea is up and sprinting across the battlefield to join her compatriot in combat. Legs pumping, she tries to close the distance as fast as possible and get back into the fray before the tide can turn.

Bringing her hammer up she increases her speed for the last few steps looking to use her momentum to her advantage with her first strike at the beasts.

OOC: Not sure if she gets a chance to attack this round.

Reloading his sling, Boris wondered if the woman jumping to the attack was a wise course. After all, it looked like the town guard had taken up positions just outside the gate to allow the big man to withdraw. Maybe they knew what they were doing, maybe not, but he didn't think his calling out advice would be that helpful.

"Stoney, mate, let's hope your friends will sort those bastards out, yeah?"

He whirled, aimed, and let fly. It was hard to tell in the darkness but it seemed like this shot also went wide. "Damn it! I need to collect myself."

13:43, Today: Boris Underhill rolled 6 using 1d20+1.  To-Hit.

The bleeding warrior seems almost crazed as he seemingly ignores the gaping wounds he's suffered; he swings his stained sword as effortlessly as a farmer works his scythe.  The blade cracks through bone as the creatures arm drops lifelessly to the ground, continuing onward through the rib cage.  The creature utters a few gurgles and goes limp, impaled on the blade.  The remaining monstrosity rolls over to face Larz, a tar like substance oozing forth from his open arm.  He fixes his gaze upon the warrior and begins to howl when it is suddenly cut off.  A stone sails through the air and cracks into the creatures windpipe, caving it in.  Its eyes go wide as it flails around, desperate for air, but soon succumbs and lays motionless on the ground.  Off in the distance, the darkness emits further howls and shrieks, but it is moving away from you.

As the last monster falls Ondrea stops and calls out to the gate. "The last one is down we need help securing the field of battle." She then turns back and looks for the smaller goblins that seemed to still be mobile just before the larger goblins arrived.

She will put them out of their misery for their trouble.

"PRAISE PELOR!"
Smacks Boris on the shoulder. Shouts to Boris, who is up away from him. "You just got here, but lets go help her!"
Loads another stone, and runs out the front gate to help the pretty lady.  spinning the sling, in case a quick shot is needed.
"I am here with the might of Pelor!"

Not being an especially brave fellow Boris hesitated, but saw that the beast-men were down. "Stoney, chum, I'm a traveling trader. Not a warrior. But sure, I can help out a little."

He climbed down the ladder and went to his belongings. Drawing a short sword he trotted outside the gates, at least to where the town militia was holding its skirmish line.

At Captain Rasmirs order, the town guards begin filing out slightly further, creating a slightly thinner wall across the road.

"Quickly, get your friends back before they mount another assault...or something far worse appears."

"Laz time to retreat behind the wall my friend." She uses her hammer to beckon the barbarian back to the relative safety of the palisade while walking back herself.

She quickens her pace as she approaches the soldiers passing through their lines and retrieving her bow. Taking her place back at the top of the wall Ondrea continues to watch the woods for more of the goblins.

"Well done the stone throwers, bringing down two of the brutes."

Turning to follow Ondrea, Boris sketched some kind of odd sign of blessing using his right hand to touch his forehead, chest, left and then right shoulder. "Thanks be to God! I wouldn't say I helped much but let us be inside where there is safety. I can get my caltrops in the morning. I hope Larz doesn't step on one!"

Sling spinning, waiting to see if another feature emerges, so he can help provide cover fire, while the party gets inside the walls.

In reply to Stoney Applesmith (msg # 69):

With the death of the last enemy before him the massive warrior turned and scanned the field of battle looking for another enemy to face, finding none he let the tip of his sword touch the ground briefly before bringing it back up over his head and letting out another war cry long and loud letting his enemy know he was still alive.

As the fog of battle began to fade Larzander became acutely aware of the injuries he sustained ad well as the fatigue that was gripping him. He found he was struggling just to remain standing.

Hearing his friends calling to him he gritted his teeth and stood as tall ad he could muster and turned to see all of them but Ondrea back at the wall. Stepping towards the wall he winced at the pain and effort of moving, but willed himself off the field of battle.

When he finally made it back the barbarian used the wall to steady himself. "I think perhaps I need a cleric." he said grinning weakly.

I serve the a holy one who if you are faithful, and they feel you worthy will heal your wounds."
Searching him, and finding his wounds.
"Give me your hands, and pray with me.
"Pelor oh mighty Pelor, if you find this vessel worthy, will you please bestow your powers on him, and help mend his wounds."

Ondrea helped the Barbarian through the gate if he needed it or stayed close if he did'nt. She allowed the militia to close the gate while she to one last quick glance towards the trees.

Once Laz was seated and had his friends around him she made her way back to her bow, covering while aid was given.

As he is trying to mend Larz, tries to answer the questions from Boris. "Boris, Who is Pelor?   Thats a conversation to share a few pints with.  The God Pelor is the god of light.  He is a being kind of like the God Cyrrollalee.  You know the Halfling god of friendship, home and trust.  Or maybe you are more familiar with the God Sheela Peryroyl.  The nature Halfling God?   I have read about nearly all the known Gods & Deities.  I might have forgotten a lot, or misunderstood most, but sometimes I can call upon their power to aid me, and my friends."

Taking a swig from a wine flask, Boris nodded in understanding. "Oh, right. Pelor must be one of the Pagan gods worshipped in the Outlands, then. Same with this "Sheila Payr...ryrrol?

"The Church hasn't been too hard on heathens as of late. Provided they aren't bloody Saracens or Devil-worshippers!"
At the mention of the Adversary he again made the odd cross-like sign or blessing.

Then offered the flask to Stoney.

"Most priests can work miracles, of course, else they wouldn't be very good priests, yeah? Even Pagan priests and medicine men can also do the same as long as they are true and holy. Or else God wouldn't allow it. It's a little complicated but I'm not a theologian.

"I belong to the one true faith: the Roman Catholic Church, and I worship our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Like most people around here, of course.

"Speaking of that, where is "here", anyways? I thought I knew this part of the Riverlands pretty well but I seem to have gotten a little lost. I don't recall a town or King's Road in these parts other than a few fishing villages."

"I suspect you're right though. They've been used to having their way around here. We showed them tonight they'll have to rethink that a bit." he said laughing softly.

Larz turned his attention to the new halfling."What in the nine planes of hell where you doing out there all alone little man?" the warrior asked. "Don't you know you can meet dangerous things out there in the dark?"
