D&D 3.5 Lay on Hands and Corellon's Blessing

The wording of Corellon's blessing makes me think it stacks with lay on hands, but this is not explicitly said. The question is really, is lay on hands in addition to the added benefit of Corellon's blessing gaining power from paladin levels?

Essentially, if I'm a Paladin 9, Champion of Corellon 1, with a 20 Charisma, do I get 45 Lay on Hands and 50 healing from Corellon's blessing, or just the 50 total between the two abilities.

Maybe I misread it, but it seems unclear.

For reference, I am the GM that's responsible for the ruling. Obviously if I were under another GM, their ruling would be all that mattered. Since I am the GM I wanted to get a poll of what you all think/know.

D&D 3.5 Lay on Hands and Corellon's Blessing

I do not understand your confusion on the matter it specifically says in the ability's description

quote:
If you have levels in paladin, you add your levels of champion
of Corellon and paladin together and determine your
ability to heal accordingly (although if you have a Charisma
score of lower than 12, your paladin levels do not contribute
to your ability to heal).

if you add your levels together as stated in the class ability you get
               (9*5)+(1*5)
                 45 +  5
                    50

how you are coming up with 45 + 50 is what is confusing to me when it is very specifically called out to say the levels stack NOT that you the the leves do not stack for lay on hands, but do stack for blessing and then those abilities both add together to get a sum

D&D 3.5 Lay on Hands and Corellon's Blessing

I know it stacks with paladin for the blessing. The question is does that supersede the lay on hands.

MY question is more that is lay on hands a separate pool, or is the blessing just another name for lay on hands.

It talks about it being like lay on hands, but is it a separate pool? Because if it is the example would mean I had 45 for the lay on hands and 50 for the blessing.

You see? It's funny because it counts the paladin levels for the blessing, yet it doesn't specifically state it supersedes lay on hands. My player is fine either way, but it's ambiguous and I want to give the benefit of the doubt.

Usually when an ability has different name it is separate. The problem arises because it is functionally identical to lay on hands, and even states this much. So is it similar or the same? If it's separate it seems bizarre that it stacks with a paladin, essentially giving a paladin level*cha twice for healing and damaging undead. If it's the same, it's funny that it doesn't say "this stacks with lay on hands" instead of "You add your paladin level". Now do you get what I'm saying?

Spoiler for a more thorough example: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)

I am a 9th level paladin. I have a 20 Cha. I have lay on hands 45. Then when I level I take Champion of Corellon. I still have lay on hands 45, but do I get 50 more healing (functionally identical) from Corellon's blessing? Or do I simple now refer to my lay on hands as Corellon's blessing and have 50 total healing?

Yes I understand what you are saying.. what I am telling you is you are incorrect in that off-the-wall interpretation and you do not seem to get what I am trying ot get across.

what it is saying is NOT what you are claiming how it works, but if you want to rule that way you are the DM you can do what you want in your games.

upon obtaining the ability Corellon's Blessing it gives you something similar to a paladin's lay on hand ability and then goes into detail on how that ability (corellon's blessing) works. Furthermore it says IF you have levels as a paladin you add your paladin levels and champion of corellon levels together to determine your ability to heal WHICH referring back to the base of the ability (corellon's blessing) you find it operates just like lay on hands (which I cha mod*level)  instead of operating like someday is 19th level like you seem to think instead you simply add your total paladin levels and your champion of corellon's level to determine your TOTAL amount of healing
again it should work like this (paladin level * cha mod) + (champion level * cha mod)
                (9*5)+(1*5)
                  45 +  5
                     50

Not like this (paladin level * cha mod) + (paladin level * cha mod) + (champion level * cha mod)
                 (9*5)+(9*5)+(1*5)
                   45 +  45 +  5
                         95

what I linked earlier literally says that IF you have previous paladin levels you add the levels of paladin to champion of correlon and then that becomes your ne total healing pool

so basically it turns your lay on hand ability INTO coreelons blessing at those class levels combined equal the new total. it does no supersede and stack then add on as a random bonus like you are proposing. its simply just stacks o determine your new total and the ability gets a new name, its that simple.
