The way this game will work is there are going to be small/medium/large plots.
Small plots are going to be (relatively) simple missions. Find the missing person, intimidate the witness, watch this building for 24 hours.
Medium plots are going to kind of be a reoccuring thread in your personal story. Items that come back over and over again. This is often related to your qualities and background but sometimes not.
Large plots are going to be the multi-person team up shadowrun heists and while these are in the works, we're going to hold on these for awhile to see who among you keeps posting regularly after the first couple months. If you have been on rPoL at all you know that there can be a huge wave of drop offs in the first couple of months.
NOTE:
Small plots can evolve - maybe they just started as a simple straight forward mission but because of choices made and the outcomes they have become a regular pain in your backside.
I have a series of medium plots here that I have begun allocating towards certain players but the last thing I want to do is commit to a plotline for your character that you find pretty "meh" so I wanted to give this space to everyone playing to get a bit of feedback and direction for me so if you want answer any or all of the following questions:
- Tone: I have some plots that are a bit lighter than others. Nothing is downright silly but some people might not like the idea of cyber-Lassie alerting the players that little Timmy is stuck in a well. Some of it is parody, some of it is more extreme but if you have a preference for/against storylines that are supposed to be a little funnier or weirder or darker or depressing let me know. Also let me know how you feel about canon breaking storylines. If I drop an alien spacecraft on you, will you love it/hate it/eh a paycheck is a paycheck.
- Maturity: This game is ranked as Mature and abides by all the terms of rpol so while there will never be any graphic depictions of fragged up drek, there might be some implications "off screen". If there is anything dark and disturbing that you absolutely do not want to deal with, just let me know, no questions asked. I'm here to give you an escape from reality, not make you more disgusted or stressed out.
- The Plot Auction: Here is a high level description of some plots that I have available. If you don't care and are a "whatever you throw at me" kinda person that's great but if something here REALLY jumps off the list as something you, the player, want to get into let me know. Don't worry about your character, forget them right now. I don't want, for example, the hackers to think they HAVE to pick the AI plotlines just cuz. I want to know what you, the player, are intrigued by and I will work on tailoring that plotline to the specific character. That being said, here is the list (presented in TV20 news fashion with a few hint tags at the end)
- The Black Death Theater Troupe: Art or Arson? (nonlinear, lots of NPCs)
- Knight Errant confirms that the so-called Sandman serial killer is just a myth. (dark, weird, violent)
- Mysterious Benefactor Wants to Reopen Abandoned Theme Park (wacky, lots of NPCs, nonlinear)
- Cardinal Distributions releases new patch to fix "rogue vending machine" problem (tech)
- Ares SCP-70 Smartgun project is not delayed, but is committed to success! (tech, hunted, corporate)
- Local Public Access 62 going viral from bizarre and offbeat programming (wacky, tech, weird, nonlinear)
- Synthpop Mega Star Karla Sommers Concert Already Sold Out! (philosophy, corporate)
- Increasing Amount of Gang Violence in surrounding areas. Knights Errant says it has it under control. (violent, gangs)
- Reports of a wave of free spirits flooding Detroit are false says experts. (dark, magic, nonlinear, weird)
- Shadowrunner turned celebrity Malak Havok dating socialite Lauren LeCroix. (magic, hunted)
- Should non-metahumans be allowed to be married? (philosophy, magic, tech, nonlinear)
TAG SUMMARY:
Lots of NPCs: This storyline is mainly about interacting with NPCs. It may or may not involve a lot of social rolls but will involve a lot of dialogue.
Nonlinear: There is no "end goal" or path of progression. Just a setting and scenario and you get to decide what you get out of it.
Tech: Technology is a heavy focus, especially cutting edge tech, AIs etc.
Magic: Magical focus like astral planes, spirits, mystical artifacts etc.
Hunted: Expect to be on the run as part of this plotline
Dark: Disturbing scenes and/or unpleasant choices
Weird: Goes into non-canonical areas
Wacky: A lighter tone, possibly even comedic at times
Philosophy: Cerebral questions. Very important to separate your thoughts from your characters POV
Violent: Lots of bodies and blood
Gangs: Involves gangs
Corporate: Involves corporate operatives
NOTES:
-It is fine if multiple people express interest in the same plotline. Some of these are quite complex and so there are multiple paths in and out of them.
-All of the above stories fit with the themes outlines in the Game Info thread
-It is fine if you don't understand how the tags fit the headline, the tags are just a clue as to what will be major components of that storyline
