So let's get the party started!

I'm currently considering playing a Mutant Human Free Agent Explorer. Alternate career possibilities are Tech Ops Pilot or Combat Spec Spacehand.

I have no problem with all of us playing the same thing, such as if we all wanted to be Bounty Hunters or Pirates, but I suspect that would be a bit daunting for the GM since we'd have redundant skills and probably lack some important ones.

Who else is here?

I'm playing a Political activist Roman noble woman. :D  I've got the "Throw Dinner Party" skill handled.

There is no essential skill set needed for the campaign, largely because though it begins on a set course, it will widen into a more sandbox approach later.  Plus, I can compensate easily enough.

I'm hoping a couple of more people will join and will also put up a formal ad seeking players, to see if anyone is interested who missed the IC.

I haven't looked into the details yet but it is very likely that some kind of body guard or damage control specialist skills will be included.

I am back from my holiday travel.  I see one character in progress and noticed that I forgot to open up the sheets.  They are now open.  Sorry about that.

Please remember to use the die roller for any dice needed.  Also, remember that no one has any equipment or starting funds.  You get the equivalent of an orange jumpsuit and sneakers with no laces.

For Perks and Flaws, it is better to balance them against each other, but you can use skill points to buy perks.  By the book, no one can ever have more than three perks and some can be acquired later in life.

Think so, huh? Just because you're psionic and can teleport out any time you want doesn't mean they don't have psionic dampeners in place to keep you from doing just that!

I might be able to bust through a wall if that helps.

PHB p, 35, maximum number of ranks in a specialty skill that can be purchased at Level 1 is three.   Please double check the skills purchases.  Also, I only see five broad skills for Argot, but it should have six minimum for free, plus up to the maximum it can purchase based on Intelligence, if you want to buy more than the six free ones.

There may be some confusion about the "maximum number of broad skills" column on the skill point table.  That is the maximum number of broad skills you an purchase above the six free ones you get for your species.  That number can only be raised if you raise your INT.  SO if you have a 6 in that column you could have up to 12 Broad Skills.

No perks or flaws for Marcia?  Also, you need to work out the stats, things like Action Check score, stun, wounds, etc., actions per round...

Prisoner 87696, can you share where you got the character sheet template?  I like that one (Argot's is pretty good too) and perhaps Maria would like to use one of them.

A note on how skills work as we get started.

When rolling dice you are trying to get under the skill value, which is usually equal to a stat (for Broad skills) or the Stat plus skill level (for specialty skills).

You always roll 1d20 which is the control die, and usually another die called a situation die.  Bonuses and penalties to the roll are not added to the control die or result of the dice rolls.  If I say there is a +1 step penalty, that is not +1 to the d20 roll.  The step progression chart shows that each step has a die code associated with it:

-1d20, -1d12, -1d8, -1d6, -1d4, +d0, +1d4, +1d6, +1d8, +1d12, +1d20 ...

Depending on the skill you start somewhere on that line.  For broad skills the default start is +1d4, for Specialty Skills the default start is +d0.  So you have to roll Awareness - Perception. If you have the Perception specialty skill at 1, and a WIL of 10, you roll 1d20+1d0 trying to get 11 or less.  If you don't have the Perception specialty skill you can roll on the Awareness broad skill rolling 1d20+1d4 trying to get under 10.  A step penalty means you move on the line in the bad direction: from +1d4 to +1d6 for example.  A step bonus means you move in the good direction, from +d0 to -1d4 as an example.

Perk checks are essentially Ability Score checks, the base situation die is +1d4.
