---ONE DAY EARLIER---

Yamcha stood with his friends near the dragon balls as they began to glow. It was that time again when they'd ensure the balls could be used for wishes without any bad guys or foolish people using them. He had his arms crossed as he looked around to see the families his friends had.

He wasn't a jealous type of course. He loved his friends and was happy for them. Still, over the years, he had come to a sort of realization that he had tried to ignore for a long time...he didn't contribute much to their lives. He was there for support, but what could he do when another world ending threat came? Back when they were all kids, it was fine. He was able to stand up to bandits and smaller threats like Pilaf. But now there were just too many powerful enemies that all he can do is gawk at while his friends fought them.

And since he was limited by being human, he could only become so strong. Even Piccolo was able to surpass his limits to match the other saiyans in strength and ability. There wasn't much he could accomplish as he was.

And so...he had talked to Paur about a plan he had formulated. One that would require him to make a choice that may seem a bit drastic. But he had Paur's support, as he thought he would. So, it was time to bring it up to his friends once they summoned the dragon.

"HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN THIS TIME BULMA? ANOTHER DECADE? DOES ANYONE ELSE...." The Dragon's eyes fell on Yamcha. "OH... THE DESERT BANDIT. WHY YAVE YOU SUMMONED ME?" he asked.

Yamcha walked up to Shenron and looked to his friends. "...guys," he started. "I've...I've been thinking about this for a while. And I just..." He paused, looked to Paur for reassurance, and then looked back to his friends. "I've sat on my ass for too long just watching everyone surpass me. Well...watching life surpass me. You guys are my best friends and I wouldn't trade that for the world. But...I want to be more like you. And I can't just watch twiddling my thumbs anymore. If I'm going to do something to help people, I want to make sure I can use my talents to their best ability. So...I want to use one of the wishes to go where I can be of some good." He paused. "...maybe I'll be back some day, but if not..." He gave everyone a thumbs up. "It's been real."

"Good. It's about time you find a place where you can become a true warrior. instead of a disappointment like the bookworm." Vegeta sneered. "You know Gohan beat Cell twice." krillin chimed in. "If he did the job right the first time he wouldn't have needed to go again." Vegeta retorted. Tien put his hand on Yamcha's shoulder. "We'll see you again man I know it." He said confidently. Oolong and Puar talked off to the side and exchanged a hug.

"Well, we'll miss you, buddy," Goku said giving a pat on Yamcha's back...but gently of course since he didn't want to hurt Yamcha. He'd miss the guy, especially since he's one of his oldest friends. But if Yamcha could actually become stronger through this, then Goku was all behind it.

Bulma approached Yamcha. Even after they parted ways and she went on to marry Vegeta, she still cared for Yamcha's safety. Sure, she berated him for being an idiot. It's partly why they broke up. But she had come to consider him a good friend even after all these years. "You take care of yourself, ok?" She said.

"Aw, you know me," Yamcha said with a grin. "I'm sure I'll get by no matter where I go. But thanks guys, it means a lot to me." He looked to Krillin. "Krill dog, you gotta keep representing us 'normies' here. You're like the strongest human in this universe. And that is something to be proud of."

Krillin chuckled. " Might not mean much anymore. But I hope you find what you're looking for man. " He smiled. "ARE YOU MAKING A WISH OR NOT?" The dragon asked.

Everyone stumbled hearing the dragon's voice boom. "Hey, I just wanted to make this moment special!" Yamcha said getting to his feet. He looked over to Paur as she floated next to him. "Last chance to back out," Yamcha said, pretty sure he knew her answer. "This might be a one-way trip."

"Nah. We're best friends. Yamcha and Puar. you're stuck with me" she smiled and sat on his shoulder.

“What would I do without you?” Yamcha said scratching Paur’s head and looking to his friends one more time. “and uh…don’t let Bulma waste the other wishes enhancing herself again. Use it more wisely.” He quickly looked to the dragon before she could say anything. “Dragon, send Paur and me somewhere where we can be of the most help! Somewhere we can grow stronger and save lives!”
