Any way to see if outsiders are reading your game ?

Is there any way to see if outsiders (people not participating in the game) are reading the group-0 (visible) threads of the game I am DMing ? I don't mind them reading it. I'm happy with how it's all going. I'm just curious to know if outsiders are reading and enjoying it too !

No, there is no way for a GM to find out that information.

Basically, RPoL's privacy policy means that unless a person is a member of your game, which games they are looking at, and how often, is nobody's business but theirs.

Might be helpful for you to include an "OUTSIDERS READ THIS THREAD" post that asks readers to message you if they're reading along. Won't catch everybody, obviously, but it'd probably net you a few responses.

Yeah, Group 0 acts like a shop window for your game. Window-shoppers can pass by, read your game info and any Group 0 threads, and decide if they want to join. But you don't know they're there until/unless they walk through the door with a RTJ.

It avoids giving passers-by unwanted 'Bazaar Hassle' - "Sir, you like my store? You come in and buy, yes? I give you very good offer. Sir, please come in and look around, no hassle, good price, sir? sir?..."

At the other end of the scale, if you don't want Tom, Dick and Harry to read it, don't put it in Group 0.

Equally, there's no way to tell if Lurkers you've signed up are still lurking. That's a bit more of a grey area between the needs of the Lurker and the needs of the GM - should GMs know if signed up Lurkers are lurking?

I normally don't carry lurkers, myself. But  I imagine you can remove a lurker? Using the GM menu.

As for knowing they are there, I don't think we can?

This is correct.  RPoL does not have any kind of "real time" register of who is looking at your game, and if they don't appear on the Cast List (and Lurkers and general public don't) then there is no record of the last time they visited.

In another game that I am a Lurker in, the GM set up a Lurkers Only thread that the players can't read for us to make comments. and suggestions.

As a lurker, you wouldn't be able to post in a thread.  He must have set you up as players with access to a specific group, and just called you lurkers.

Thanks for the replies. I hope someone other than just the players is enjoying it, because it's good and fun so far.
