Jessica Ho

Character Name: Jessica Ho
Age: 28
Gender: she/her
Home town/country: Atlanta, GA but currently in living in Memphis, TN

Physical description and Personality: Jessica is usually described as perky by those who meet her. She pretty much always wears a smile on her face no matter what might be going on around her. At 5’9” and favoring heels, she tends to stand out and that is by design. She loves both streetwear and fashion and always makes an effort to look her best. Her hair is long, dyed blond, and worn in a variety of styles. Her eyes are deep brown, her features on the sharper side. Her body is lean, clearly she exercises regularly to keep in shape.

Jessica is an exuberant type. Nobody would doubt that she can command a stage. But there are other sides that people who spend time with her will see. There’s a dogged work ethic, a focus to her goal. She takes that and will also do anything for her friends, though it takes quite a bit to get close.

Background, most of which can be found between Wikipedia, various fan boards for her failed band and her current website: Jessica is the second daughter of three born to Korean immigrants. Her father has moved to the US when he was five, her mother was an adult and came for work teaching economics at Emory. She was raised in relative privilege and allowed to pursue her passion of music as long as she kept up with her education. This became a driving force in her life.

In her teens Jessica moved to Korea to try to make it as an idol. As a trainee life was harsh, especially coming from America, but she persisted. Ultimately she ‘made’ it. Although such a thing is relative. Blackpink’s members made it, so did Crayon pop. Her experience was somewhere in the middle but definitely on the side of the latter. The girl group called S8D had several singles, one made it to the 24th place for 1 week and their only EP was in the top 50. As such they never quite had that moment and the label dropped them.

Jessica was only 23  at this point and tried to do get something going with a solo career but she definitely didn’t have the recognition since she had been one of 8 and was American. After 2 more years of struggle she moved back to the US and moved to Memphis to live with her older sister, Mina. Working as a server to help with the rent, she kept trying to get her music career going. Getting her name out, playing whatever gigs she could.

In the 3 years in Memphis she joined a band as the lead singer, it wasn’t pop but she found herself enjoying soul and blues more than she might have expected. And she had the voice for it. No longer needing to work another job she was able to get her own place on gigs alone. Sure it was a studio but it was downtown and she could walk to all of her gigs. And, when not performing, she could see other musicians, clubs.
