At the time Einar, son of Éadgel, was born Fengel, 15th King of Rohan, already ruled the Riddermark for more than two decades and Einar has never known another ruler for even as he learned to ride and wield spear and sword Fengel still ruled.
His mother Dernnild had died when he was only four years old trying to birth a sister that outlived the mother only for an hour.
Raised in Fowlmere in the Westfold, domain of the Second Marshal of Rohan Éogar, son of Halwin, Einar has always stood out because of his black hair, heritage of his great grandmother Naraz who had come from the East by the time of Fréaláf Hildeson when Gondor had last honoured the alliance to Rohan and rescued the Riddermark of the Dunlending invasion which had ended the reign of Helm Hammerhand in the Long Winter.
Due to this 'blemish' of black hair he often had to defend against false accusations of Dunlending heritage, not that the Easterling blood was much better. An accusation that sits hard on him as Einar's hatred for Dunlendings is strong ever since both his father and his brother Gléoere were killed in the Gap of Rohan in 2942TA. In fact, even before this tragic loss he was already well-known for his temper and brawls that quickly escalated in the drawing of swords. Ever since his father's death, Einar has worked even harder to be recognized as a warrior and those riding with him have learned to respect his fits of temper, and fear his powerful sword strokes. The motivation to prove himself is a strong one.
Elfbrand, Lord of Fowlmere (who claims kinship to Helm Hammerhand), was ever at odds with Fengel King and also with the Second Marshal, resenting the political maneuvering initiated by the King. Instead, Elfbrand has lived and thereby nurtured a life of honour, honesty and martial excellence. Something that Einar has come to cultivate as a possibly false ideology of a 'true warrior'. When Elfbrand was killed in a skirmish against Dunlendings there were a lot of indications, no proof though, that Éogar had been involved in some dark machinations against his rival. Even more distressing were interrogations of Dunlendings taken prisoner that hinted that the death of his family six years earlier were also connected to the most powerful man of the Westfold.
Einar decided to leave his home and headed west.
