Appearance: Xanetia is an attractive young woman who stands roughly five foot tall and weighs in at around ninety pounds.  She has long blond hair that reaches her lower back and a pale complexion and prefers wearing black clothing that is rather revealing in style which generally combines a corset with a short pleated skirt that only reaches to mid thigh, lacy black sleeves or long gloves, and black lace stockings attached with a garter.  Sometimes she chooses a pair of heels or heeled boots when in town but when traveling she prefers black leather half-boots.

Personality: To say that Xanetia is strange is an understatement, many consider her kooky to outright spooky given her propensity to talk to things that aren’t there.  They don’t realize that what she is talking to is simply something they cannot see or interact with, the restless spirits of the dead.  Xanetia’s is often distracted because the dead come to her at times, or she is guided to them, and she tries to help put them to rest, it is a drive that she cannot explain.

Because of her abilities Xanetia can allow a spirit to take over her and in doing so it can sometimes take control.  This has led to her seeming to have multiple personalities and, at best, to be considered strange, at worst dangerously insane.  To Xanetia it is more that she is suffering a breakdown of personality, especially after having to channel one of her guardian spirits and allow it to take control as her memories and theirs merge or she mentally becomes them for a short time.  This leads to a blurring of the line between being alive and being dead and has caused her to develop progressively more mentally unstable, particularly right after a full take over.  In order to help keep herself grounded in life Xanetia has become known as something of a nympho as she finds that the most alive thing to do is have sex and she tends to look for someone willing to do it with her which, given her good looks, is something that she doesn’t have much trouble finding.

Despite her seeming craziness Xanetia is a kind woman at heart, she doesn’t like seeing others hurting, especially children, and will go to great lengths to help those she considers a friend.  She may not always succeed in doing the right thing, in helping others, but she does try and her connection to her guardian spirits and their skills usually gives her some method of doing so by giving her access to several lifetimes of varying skills that are available to her making her seem far wiser than her age would allow, at least for short periods.

Skill Sets:
Spirit Channeler: Xanetia can speak to and channel the spirits of the restless souls of the dead.  This allows her to see the spirits of the deceased that have not yet crossed over and to communicate with them.  She can also allow the spirits to possess her body for a short time allowing her to use their skills they had in life.  i.e. she can channel a master swordsman and allow that spirit to take over her body making her the master swordsman for a short time, she can ask a sage for information giving her access to knowledge that might be lost to others, she can learn from a thief how to pick locks and sneak, or channel a mage to let them use their magic through her for a time.

Manifest Spirits: Xanetia can, for short bursts, manifest a spirit physically, though they still look largely transparent, allowing a spirit to unlock a deadbolt, or appear to lure a monster away so she can get past them. While the skill versatile it is extremely short in duration lasting only a few seconds to a minute at most and requires a great deal of focus so she can’t just do it whim or very often. While she might be able to manage more later on she is quite limited at the present on just how much she can accomplish with this ability.

Practiced Courtesan: Because of her licentious nature Xanetia has at times been taken in as a mistress by one person or another and has learned a great deal about how to present herself and how to servce others.  These arrangements are always short lived due to her seeming insanity but for short term gain they have worked out well.  She has become better at interacting socially with others and has become better at hiding her mental issues because of it.

Neutral Aspects:
Raven’s Chosen: Among the followers of Raven, Xanetia is considered to be a favorite of his.  Her abilities are the kind of outside the box thinking that Raven is known for and the fact that she is not raising the dead but trying to help them pass on is almost saintly.  This gives her a great deal of clout with Raven’s clergy, should they know of her, but has the downside of making her a target of envy and jealousy by some who want her powers without knowing just what they cost her.

Weaknesses:
Mental Instability: Because of Xanetia allowing spirits to co-habitate or outright take over her body at times her mental stability is pour.  This can be most noticed after a full possession when she can’t remember whether she is herself or the spirit she had just been replaced by and tends to do things that they would do until she gets her full sense of self back like being overly gallant when she has channeled Keratos or a tendency to steal things when she has been channeling Terra.

Often Distracted: Xanetia often seems distracted due to the multiple spirits that are always with her.  They don’t always get along, or agree, on anything and it can be very distracting when they are arguing over a course of action.

Frail: Xanetia’s abilities taking not only a mental toll but also a physical one.  She has above average endurance but is physically weak and not all that dexterous (she suffers from weak wizard’s wrist syndrome).

Notable Equipment: Xanetia is largely notable for her attire,  a rather well made black corset dress with a short, pleated skirt reaching her knees, black lace sleeves or gloves and stockings, and black boots.  With her pale skin and blond hair it makes her striking and she has gotten the garments enchanted to stay clean and keep her warm in most temperatures.

History: Xanetia doesn’t know when, exactly, she was born, or who her parents were.  The first thing she remembered was the orphanage run by followers of Raven.  It was considered spooky by other children her age that had their own families and it left her rather isolated by her peers.  It didn’t help that, in an attempt to get them to like her, Xanetia took a nasty fall and cracked her head hard which made the other children run away frightened they would be in trouble for what happened to her.

The next thing that she knew Xanetia awoke to the face of Sister Katt, the woman who ran the orphanage, sitting with her.  Katt told her that she had actually died for a minute or two before Raven sent her back to them.  Xana found herself both more and less isolated after that time as she began to see things that weren’t there, or at least others couldn’t see them, but these “imaginary friends” were so real to her that Xanetia no longer felt so lonely.

The first imaginary friend she made was a protector to her, a brave human warrior who had once fought on the front lines during the dragon wars named Keratos.  He had held the line in a battle that took place not far from the orphanage and had lost track of what, exactly, happened after that until he saw Xanetia fall.  He tried to get her help but everyone seemed to ignore him and by the time he came back for her she was gone.  He came to find her and decided to devote himself to protecting her as penance for his failure, though he couldn’t quite recall what he had failed at.

As she grew up Xanetia began to make more “friends” the next was Sara, a half-eleven woman who was an aeromancer!  She, too, did not know what she had failed at but felt a drive to redeem herself, and when she saw Keratos teaching the young Xanetia how to hold a sword she decided to teach the girl about magic, something Xana turned out to be very adept at.  She later made another friend when she reached her early teens named Terra.  Terra was a young street girl who had survived by being very sneaky and observant.  Terra began to teach her Xana these things, much to the chagrin of Sister Katt.

As she began to get older, entering her mid teens, Xanetia’s abilities finally came to be understood for what they were.  Spirit Channeler’s were few and far between in history and were often considered to be insane as most people did not understand their “gift” of having one foot among the living and the other among the dead.  When they understood this, it was possible to help Xanetia better control her abilities and they came to realize who her “imaginary friends really were, the spirits of deceased individuals.  This, of course, helped relieve Sister Katt’s mind and she was the one primarily tasked with helping Xana to learn to control something very rare.

Over the next couple of years Xanetia managed to gain a better control of her abilities and learned how to both channel her protectors.  The process was taxing and difficult, particularly when they took full control of her, and the mental strain was great on the young woman.  Fortunately Sister Katt was there and could help ground Xana in the land of the living and the mental difficulties of having people in your head arguing, especially Keratos and Terra who did not get along very well.

It was when the asteroid fell that Xanetia’s world ended and her greatest trials began.  She had been away from the Orphanage at the time the meteor hit and when she managed to get back she found that it was gone.  The only thing that remained was the spirit of Sister Katt, who had been unable to leave without saying goodbye to her daughter Xanetia.  It was a tearful goodbye and Xana was able to see it when Katt’s soul was able to go to it’s final rest.  The loss of her mother figure and emotional support nearly shattered Xana and left her in extreme emotional distress.

Over the next couple of years Xanetia had to find a way to ground herself in the living of the living and had great difficulty until, in a moment of weakness, she was convinced by an admirer to spend the night with him after she turned eighteen.  She realized that carnal pleasure was the most effective way to ground herself and she began a career as a courtesan.  She could never find a permanent patron, her eccentricities prevented that, but she did find them at times, and she found it was easy to find a man or woman to spend the night with if she tried given her skills and good looks.  It was also during this time that she found herself beginning to work as an adventurer at times.  She used the magic she had learned to disguise her spirit channeling and could even double in other roles, though not as well as a professional in the field.

Connections:
The Faithful of Raven: While most worshipers do not know of her abilities as a Spirit Channeler most of the clergy do.  She is rather famous because of this, at least among Raven’s followers.
