Between 17 and 27 November of the Year of Our Lord 1095, Pope Urban II held the Council of Clermont, wherein he called for a Crusade against "a despised and base race, which worships demons." This call to arms in defense of the Kingdom of God caused an upswell of support, not only giving rise to the First Crusade led by the likes of Raymond IV of Toulouse and Adhemar of Le Puy but the People's Crusade of Peter the Hermit and Walter Sans Avoir.Not only mortals chose to make armed pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Alongside mortals were those with longer lifespans, the damned creatures of the night known as vampires.
