Re: More annoyed grumblings...

No, you stupid appletart, the fact that you switched the stickers around on the items and caused me to miss my bus home, stranding me for an hour at the mall, because you thought if you whined enough about the customer always being right that FYE would relent and give you the complete series on DVD that you wanted for $29.99 when it was ringing up as $149.99 is why my eyes are burning lasers of flaming death into the back of your head and sighing at what an immature little peanut you are.  It is not due to what you implied it to be in front of a store full of customers.

If it was, you would have gotten more than several snide remarks.

Re: More annoyed grumblings...

Alright, sorry but I had to come here for a vent. Why in the hell can't people freaking listen? I GM a game, granted probably not the best one out there but still rather good. I have repeatedly told one player to be more thorough when travelling between the threads. You don't just go from point A to point B instantly, unless said areas would be only a few feet apart. I have one thread that you must go through the jungle to get to. So what does he do? He posts in his desired thread with a notation that he travelled through the jungle to get there. Um, no! Doesn't work like that. He said it was to avoid other character's interactions within the thread he would have to pass through. It doesn't matter. I am GM, I have told you more than once you cannot get there that fast.....GRRRRRRR!!!

Not feeling so well

I'm not really in very good form at the moment. I had a cold return for a third round and managed to fend it off, though I'm going to need to keep my resistance up to ensure I can keep it away.

What's bothering me more is back/leg pain. I injured my back badly when I was moving house a couple of years ago. I don't know if it's related to that, but the pain is worse than usual at the moment and it hurts to even move.

I have a lot to celebrate at the moment, but it doesn't help that I don't feel so well. It's my intent to stay home over the weekend and move as little as possible in the hope that my back will feel better.

Re: More annoyed grumblings...

I get annoyed at the level customers go to in order to get money off something. I did some seasonal retail work last month... oh yeah... <_<

Anyways, one time a lady asked me how much some xmas lights were. I looked at the barcode (as she had the last one in her hands) and matched it to the POS. Job done. Then she disagrees with me and says she found it in the space next to that where the item (different lights) was a buck cheaper...

*sigh*

If she thought they were that price, why didn't she just take them and get proven wrong at the till? Or if she did know they were that price and said she found them on the other shelf... her argument only stands if the POS had a big chunky sale price covering it and then we'd need to sell it to her for that price... But no, both items were clearly marked.

--
I also to voluntary at a charity shop for the hospice that took my terminally ill mother in when she needed it. If I see another person take an item into a corner, peel off the price sticker and try to get some quid off an item 'with no price on it' after I have seen them take the sticker off by asking how much it is...

It's why I answer that question with double what the thing is worth to screw their day. I don't get paid to be there and some jerk wants to get a charity collecting for a hospice for the terminally ill out of pocket. I only have to reprice the thing when they faff off out of the shop. Heaven forbid the day a family member of theirs needs taking in the hospice.

Re: Pet peeve

Gotta say, it makes me laugh a little bit when I hear people complain about how much they hate driving in the snow.  It's the immediate aftermath of the snow that scares me...sunshine hits what pavement is exposed, snow on the edge of the road melts, you wind up with black ice on the roads...

And if it gets cold enough, fast enough, you get ice build-up in your wheel wells, to the point where the ice is rubbing on your tires.  Talk about killing your fuel efficiency...it's like trying to drive while someone is pushing the brakes.  I kicked the ice out of my wheel wells at a friend's birthday party on Saturday night...by the time I made it back home, there was a pretty major build-up back in place again.  I think I'd rather have the snow falling, thanks (especially once I get the snowblower a friend offered to me, so I don't have to shovel it.)

So done with January right now...

Re: Pet peeve

Just found out my brother has to serve the next ten weekends in jail, for a contempt of court charge that stemmed from the divorce judge giving him a directive that he could not, physically, comply with (involving sale of or refinancing the house to get his wife's name off the title so she's no longer responsible for any of the bills in any way.  Unfortunately, because of other elements of the divorce decree, he can't complete all the paperwork the bank wants to refinance the house...so...)

So, not only am I done with January weather, I'm also, at this point, feeling done with anybody who works in the legal profession.  It's nothing personal...just, you guys work with some real danishes, and this is just the latest in a string of friends and family who've gotten the raw end of the deal because some legal eagle decided THIS was the case to use to make an example.  It could be worse...it's only twenty days.  My friends' son is in prison in California for a gun crime he didn't commit, convicted on the testimony of a witness who gave at least two massively conflicting accounts of the events.  They have no idea how soon he'll be out of prison...sometime in the next decade, if he's lucky.

Re: Pet peeve

Learn how to spell and use the words right people! Geeze... I don't know how many games I've seen with people using 'thin' for the word 'then'. Really? You don't know that 'thin' referrs to how wide something is? Are you a child in elementary school? Come on people, you should all know how to properly use the words in the English language. If English is not your first language, I'm sure they have programs out there to help you with that. And punctuation! Sorry folks, but commas are not used to end sentences. Periods are not used to make a break in a line, and capitalize the first letter in a new sentence. Is it really that hard? I don't think so. I wasn't even using a damn keyboard on here for the longest time and I could still write properly, so there's no excuse for not doing it!

Re: Pet peeve

absentee GMs that are GM/players, that post infrequently, commonly leaving players hanging because instead of NPCs that act in a support role, they make em' central fruiting characters. Then after hiatus, apparently doesn't like what direction the PCs have taken the 'player-driven' game in, steps in with their superstud character, does the work of 10 characters, solves the crisis immediately, with excessive amounts of just-too-cool-for-words perfection, eliminating the need for any other adventurers. Even sidekicks get to do something... once in a while.

>_<

The other TEN players aren't even sidekicks, maybe we're worshippers... we probably should be

Ive been looking for over a month now for a place to move to.  We have searched all the websites we could find for places in our area.  I finally found one; 2br/2bath everything included for $600 a month.  AWESOME!!

Just found out after some research it is a scam.  UGHHHH!!!  Back to square one again.  It really was too good to be true.  I hope they get caught soon.

Re: Pet peeve

Sticking with my pattern of doing this in threes...I hate it when directors decide they MUST do a show exactly like how it was done on Broadway.  Especially when they're directing for a theatre company that's trying to save itself from economic oblivion.  "Yeah, I know they say they need that in the script...but can you find some way to NOT need it without compromising the whole story?"  It's even better when the producers inform me, AFTER I've said yes to designing the show, that my budget is pretty much all spent just getting the props for one scene (they're used through the whole show, yes, but all but three of them turn up in the opening scene...and they're not 'do the show without it' kinds of things...they HAVE to be there...)  Was told my props budget is $500...the rental for the guns (the show is Sondheim's 'Assassins', so you've got to have several VERY specific guns) would be more than that, if I got blank-firing versions of everything.  I've talked the director out of that much, but I'm still not certain just how much it will end up being, yet, because I can't get a solid answer on whether or not I need two weapons offered for the rental package but not really mentioned in the script (one is mentioned, but we only see it in passing).

I shoulda known this would happen.  I've done scenic art for these guys before, and it's always a communications nightmare, trying to get information from the set designer so I know what I'm painting.  At least they seem to be consistent...getting the same treatment as a props designer...I'm foreseeing a lot of really busy periods in my future, when (if) they call to ask me to do it again...

Yes, it is the job from Hades

Another person dropped dead from working where I work....and I have spent the night being stressed about my job, so no sleep.  Add a bad commute and a huge list of chores to do on my ONLY day off this week....Just delightful.  I need to find out how to get out of this job before it kills me too.  I won't live to retire, that's pretty much a given, unless I can find a nice refridgerator box near a steam grate somewhere, within walking distance of the soup kitchen.

Been working my apple off for inspections that took forever to get done, the one day I get my room fine toothed my boss puts a pair of morons in line to help and everything went south, making myself and co-teacher look like a couple of idiots. And if that's not bad enough, they keep giving advice every time the inspectors are out of earshot.

You should have shut up and left us alone, we had the routine down and perfected till you twits gave a poorly thought out assist.

Today I was woken up by a guy with a summons. Fun. Then I fell in the bathtub. Then my car stalled out while I was trying to get to an appointment to meet with people to deal with the summons.

I hate you, January. I hate you and wish you would die.

Other stuff

Today is one of those days when I'd like to vent, but for a whole slew of reasons I shouldn't (at least, about what I want to). My RL and online personas are somewhat linked at this point, so I've got to watch it.

Suffice to say, life has had its ups and downs and some situations seem at times like they don't have any answers. Maybe they do, but not necessarily answers I want to see.
