Recurring Dreams.
It's bad enough when it's a past (pastlife) event or a probable future one....but the character based ones are the most stressful.   It takes "can't get her out of my head" to a whole new level.

And...I've gotten Tinnitus recently.
The cause?  The fire alarm that goes off at least once a week, and it's loud enough that I can hear it turn on in the next apartment over.

Fun dreams when the characters from stories your working on show up and start giving you grief on Their drama, which has nothing to do with your life, but still leaves you all the extra stress. Boy do I know how That goes.

Not going to get any sympathy on the Tinnitus from me, been suffering from it most of my life. No idea what set it off, only that it never really goes away.

Today I remembered people posting about the oddities of delivery people, and I think my story may top at least most of yours.

My husband was switching phone carriers, so was getting a new SIM card.  But it didn't come, so after a period of time they sent another.  This house has three entrances, two of them obviously in use, one for up here, and one at the side for the downstairs apartment.  Hubby had checked that the family downstairs didn't get the first delivery, and he'd looked all around our front door.  There is a garage on the south side, obviously a garage with a garage door on the front.  There is a door at the back, equally obviously not in common use because the little deck between it and the downstairs entrance is where the other family has their garbage can, recycling bins, and a storage chest.  There is nothing to suggest there is access to the living quarters from there, and indeed there isn't any such.  Inside the garage at that point was a bit crowded since hubby's boy-toy fair-weather car was still stored in there, so when he went to get something out of the back of the garage he went to the garage back door.  Low and behold, when he moved what he needed to to open the door, there was the package with the first SIM card?!?  What kind of brain spasm sent the person to deliver, not to any of the entrances to the living quarters, not even to the front door of the garage, but sent him looking for a door that didn't have access to the house part, obviously wasn't being used, and wasn't even easy to get to past the bins??  I know some delivery people make a point of making it difficult to get your parcel, but wasn't that a lot of trouble to go to for that??  Especially since the clearly marked correct door was so easily accessed, and as a second choice he could have left it at the also clearly marked incorrect door that he walked right past when he climbed onto the little deck and over the bins to hide the package behind what was blocking that back door??

You should google your address and see what Google maps thinks is your front door.

If the delivery person has never been to your place, they'll be following a phone app.  Seeing it as a garage, they'll still shrug and leave it there, because the app told them to.  And that will be their defense if they're asked about it.

GPS around my area sends all deliveries to the back of a strip mall despite we being in an apartment complex consisting of three 4 unit buildings each set in its own parking area with individual street addresses. We get more wrongly delivered items than almost anywhere else in our city.

A few months ago, we supposedly had a delivery of equine supplements. Per the driver, it was left at the driveway. A full search of the area around driveway -- which has a big gate, multiple cars parked in front of the house and beside the yard -- turned up nothing. So the company reshipped it, and it arrived promptly, left beside the gate at the driveway.

A month later, the first box was finally found. It had been tucked under an overgrown mesquite at the northern most corner of the property, where the fence along the road ends (the fence along the northern side of the property hasn't yet been built). The only thing back there are a couple of horse stalls nearby (about three car lengths from the fence; the space in between the eastern most stall is raw desert and obviously unused). There's no driveway there, and the 10 acres north of the property is vacant land. The empty lot is a couple feet higher than the road, after years and years of grading. Even a 4-wheel drive truck would have a challenge getting up onto that embankment.

What on earth would make someone think raw desert land was a driveway? Because the fence simply ends there? It was a good two acres from the the actual driveway. The house is set only about four car lengths back from the road, and is impossible to miss seeing.

That would so explain all the Fed Ex packages that end up on my (or my near neighbors) door steps - all just Tossed on the ground so hard the packaging rips (they never come back for them either, even after multiple calls to them about the wrongly received packages)
The local post man is actually a nice guy who lets people know where their packages actually end up being - provided we remember to tell him. I have met more of my neighbors in the last 2 months cause of this one disgruntled Fed Ex driver, than in the 5 years I have lived here.

as a  retired  Letter carrier, I will be the first to say..yeah?  we make Mistakes. But in My offcie ( i was the carrier shop steward)..  our people got stepped on ..we also caught , more then a few folks , who lied  about boxes missing and  stuff... now days, with the  scanners, there can only be three reasons  why you didn't a package..1.. Carrier  scanned it put it in the wrong place...this is where you hope you have Honest neighbors....

2... Portch Pirates... the  Inspectors  find them sooner or later.. its better to have the  CIA  fater you then the Postal Inspectors. There are  alot of things we can do, that they can't

3.. The customer is lying  to get free stuff..this happens..ALOT.

we have seen pictures of   delivery folks of  all uniforms tossign packages, leaving them in the rain, Hiding them. My daughter  had  many packages  come to her  house years ago..becaus she  had  address 1005..compared to  1105.

here is the Best thing to do with damaged  packages.. take Pics.. send the  to you Post office 0r other carrier , and  the place you bought it .

make sure you write down tracking Numbers, because those are you packages  fingerprints.

there habve been times  , when the  barcode is  screwed up and we have to punch all those numbers in..or.. a supervisor has to do some actual work, and  do through the   smudged or torn  code to figure out what number is missing.

after saying all of that... Carriers will, indeed..NOT deliver if your dog is out..( 'he won't  hurt you" is Bull crap of the highest order)..  You have to have your  access to your porch or where ever, cleared...and if you are a 'karen' it  better  be spotless...  One guy, who was ripping off his  friends  by  chipping in and getting  cheap cigarettes, and telling them it didn't come in... I happened to deliver  one and told my PM" its here and on his porch..."

he got  busted..and  paid a heft  fine, and has to pick all his   packages up in person at the post office.

so? are the jerk carriers? You bet, Just like  lawyers, doctors  and  cashiers... don't  think they are  all like that

Good advice and I agree Some people can be jerks, but some make up for them. Our postal guy tends to go above and beyond for those like me who are disabled and house bound. I like him. Some need more CS training (or training to be actually Human in some cases ...) but most carriers I have met in recent times at least are polite if nothing else, and I have not had any complaints about Those ones. (Though this thread exist so we can vent about Those few who annoy the rest of us, as well as everything else that annoys us.)

i was busted  going up there.. and he wanted to  right me up... i pointed to the path  up the stairs  i made  during the week..." yes 90 years old..i have her  meds..ther's a trail..i'm dping my job"

he said " You made that traiL"

I asked him, 'where in the contract  does it  say it can't be mine"

I delivered the mail, like i wanted it   to be delivered for my Mom and dad when they were alive... but ocne  people  truned to the dark side and became management.. all they looked for was  'bonus bucks'

Banning Books

In reply to donsr (msg # 2016):

I have a funny story regarding mis-delivery, though it was UPS, not USPS.

A couple of days before Fathers' Day a decade or so ago, I got a package from 'Hello Fresh!' on my porch.  I assumed it was from my kids and I gladly opened it and went through the items and made one of the meals.  (It is the sort of thing I would enjoy.)  Anyway, it wasn't until two days later when I was going to throw out the box that I saw it was addressed to my neighbor.

I called both my neighbor and the Hello Fresh! company apologetically.  They had already replaced it and the company told me to enjoy it as a free sample.  I ended up being a customer for several years, so it definitely paid off for them.

Also, I never did get a Fathers' Day present that year.

I really don't want to create a (ero-themed) game just for the purpose of getting the concept to settle back into the back of my head, where she belongs.

I have much the same issue with packages, only my front door opens onto the street.   And given my neighborhood, if I don't get them shortly after arrival...then someone else will.  I gave up on Walmart because they just drop and leave, no notification of any kind that it's there.

i'm a former service member, an actual veteran of combat, and avid RPG GM. i have two real gripes. the first is that everybody and their uncle bob has seen so many so-called realistic depiction war movies that everyone is always asking if i have PTSD as if they expect me to get mad and start murdering people. no, it's not your business, and fruit off. the second is how every person who ever plays in a pseudo military game on here talks about realism like that is even a thing. real is cold, hot, sweaty, dirty, stinking, tired, aggravated, hungry, thirsty, stressed, scared, raw, annoyed, bored, sore, lonely, wondering, horny, lost, and obligated. who wants to play that?

rant over, have a nice day.

But he didn't leave the package at the very obvious garage door, he went past that, he passed both the residence doors, and climbed over and around garbage and recycling containers and moved things to put it at the back door of the garage!  And Google Maps has a VERY old picture, showing the front of the house (sort of, there are trees in the way), with the driveway leading to the front of the garage.

This probably doesn't help, but there's a good bit in the novel High Fidelity, where the narrator describes how when he & his friends were early teenagers, they had no place to hang out but a playground. So, to make it "not a kid's game", they would start (essentially) playing with the playground equipment in a way that could cause real injury.

Mind you, it was still playing with, say, a seesaw or a carousel, but now it was hardcore.

I often think about this. In this case, it's not people just playing pretend, it's making a tactical simulation. Like, they think that if they make it 'realistic', they get credit for that, or in any way experienced the real thing.

(It's related to the thing where gamers who've been at it for a while sometimes want to be treated like they're somehow veterans or have seniority. Dudes, you've just been doing organized make-believe for longer.)

My second year in the post ofice. i bid on a route's vacation, so i could get the  40 hours... the bad part? It was the 3rd of the month, and at that time, no direct deposit..90% of the people were  'old county' folks who came to work the mines in PA...they are a distrustful bunch...

I came to this House... no mail Box..no door slot. I even went up on the porch to see if the storm door's bar hid the slot ( they do! alot!).. I went aroudn back, ebcause, at my first offcie, some peope had thier Mail Boxes ( and Big doggies) back there.

Nope? I couldn't  find one....Then..as i walked  back to the street, the next door  neighboor had a beer and was sitting down to read the paper..." You Lost Son? "

"yeah..where the heck is her Mail Box.."

  " around back..under  the Boxes"

sure  enough, Just like nesting  dools there were  3  Boxes, with the  Mailbox under it....

the sidebar to this? The next sday the lay was out scrubbing her porch, i asked her.". Why don't you have your  mail box out front like everyone else? "

" because... everyone wil see when i get amil and they might see it!"

I shrugged and said, " Then you shoudl ahve it out, because they will see  anyone trying to steal it...back there, people  can take the whole thing, and no one will know?"

two weeks later she had the mailbox out front. the women who was her regular carrier gave me a hug, because i saved her 20 yards  worth of walking!

Maybe.  But if he was snooping, he must have been disappointed.  That back door has a decent lock, aside from a car that he'd have had trouble getting out even if he got into the garage, there really wasn't anything in there to steal, so all he found was the garbage cans!

I've come to discover that the only active game on my list is the one that I'm running.   I'm really struggling with everything that going on right now (my depression has been kicking my butt lately), and don't have the interest to stay active at the moment.

I know interest in hobbies come and go...I'm hoping that a break will help renew my interest when it's time to pick it back up again....
