Artificial portraits

In a Cyberpunk FB group I belong to someone has posted a link to a site that has random computer generated portraits. Some of them are really good and would make great PC images others are horrifyingly bad.

Interesting. Who owns the copyright to the images?

Would be more interesting with the ability to ‘tailor’ the images - gender, race, age, hairstyle, worn accessories, etc, to reduce some of the randomness if you’re looking for an image to match a particular character.

eg. If I’m looking for an image for my character, Jessica Mbele, half the images I generate will be the wrong gender, 90% of them will be the wrong race, and if I just happen to get something close after a few hundred clicks, what’s the betting she’ll be sporting a pair of horn-rimmed specs?

Fascinating what technology can do, these days, but for character generation, let’s see what rival sites come up with over the next year or three.

Of course, if jase could incorporate a version of this into Rpol, tailored to our needs with a script to generate copyright-free images by the thousand, it would make an interesting adjunct to the current portrait gallery.

All he needs is the budget. :)

The five year old kid with the old man wrinkles was creepy... which also tells me how this is working (maybe).
