Cyberpunk 2077...

Has John Wick in it. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I am also quite eager to see the next iteration of the Cyberpunk 2020 game.

Also... the game releases April 16th... 2020!

AWESOME!

Cyberpunk 2077...

I have friends who regularly play Cyberpunk 2020.  I'm sure their game mistress will be thrilled with this news.  Thanks!

I think that's Johnny Silverhand actually, but yeah, definitely chippin' in when it drops.

Cyberpunk 2077...

In reply to nauthiz (msg # 5):

I hadn't thought of that. :D  But that makes sense.  It's just that Keanu Reeves came out dressed as John Wick to announce the game at E3.

But Johnny Silverhand is cool too!

Cyberpunk 2077...

In reply to nauthiz (msg # 5):

Yep.  "Chippin' in" is playing at one point in the trailer.

And the arm was a big clue.  :)

Johnny Mnemonic would have been more appropriate.  :)

Okay I legit did not realize this wasn't an original IP. Ordinarily I'd just shrug and say that trying to process all of nerd culture is a fool's errand but as a William Gibson aficionado I am (or thought I was) well versed in cyberpunk IPs. Between Shadowrun, Gibson and NETRUNNER how did I miss the connection. I mean NETRUNNER!!! I used to play that all the time...man I suck :P

Maybe you read Cyberpunk v3 and your brain blocked it all out in order to defend itself?

I was initially kind of annoyed at the protagonist being yet another eastern European white male, but it seems to be entirely customizable.  FPS isn't really my genre, though, so I may still pass.

I hadn't even checked out v3 but holy crap. When your flagship product is Netrunner, maybe don't eliminate the entire 'Net.

Also that "artwork"...man oh man. Barbies dressed up in mad max clothes do not, an art style, make.

There is some regret in buying the V3 book. xD  I did want to support RTG and Mike Pondsmith so...

Yeah, there's a reason they're heading back to around 2020 in the canon timeline and then advancing it from there for the new Cyberpunk RED edition.

Can you imagine if the 2077 video game was based on the 203x version?  Creating your character would literally be dressing up a Barbie doll.

I actually really like Cybergeneration.  It's a solid game with a better narrative thread than CP2020.  CP2020 is one of those 80s-90s games where you can "play anything" which works really well for some GMs and terribly for others.

V3 was... yeah.  It took some risks and a few of them were good, but most were not.

Cybergenerations is a great game, had fun with it.  It definitely has a different feel from CP2020.

And v3... yeah, it was the artwork that turned us off of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077...

Yeah, that's my birthday present for 2020 sorted!

I love Cyberpunk, at least 2020 (though I do enjoy CyberGeneration to a degree). I thought they'd killed the line dead with v3 which was my most disappointing RPG moment, but hopefully there is more life in the old beast.

The appearance of Silverhand in this latest trailer certainly rekindled my interest.

Cyberpunk 2077...

It was good in that Mike Pondsmith saw how things might go.  So there are rules for biopunk and nanopunk, and how to create characters for them.  I think there were six subgenres... one for cybertechnology, biotechnology, nanotechnology and three? others that I forget.
