He is best known for his role in the 1965–1969 television series The Wild Wild West, playing the sophisticated Secret Service agent James T. West. He portrayed World War II ace Pappy Boyington in the television series Baa Baa Black Sheep.

yep saw this the other  day..he was one of  my favs... I always felt the remake-movie  was a slap in his face., though the TV show   might have been viewed as Campy..it was along the Lines of Man from UNCLE... where as the  'modern' movie   more or less  made  'sport' of the  series...the only thing was, the Movie  had  advanced  special effects.

 Black Sheep squadron  was  one of my favs as well, i don't think i ever  missed  an episode..My  Late father , who was in the Navy and   fought   in that theater liked it as well.... My Late  wife  watched the  reruns with me  when   we had the chance as well.

Would have loved to have seen a "Wild Wild West"/"Brisco County Jr." crossover/team-up in some way...

While I watched Wild, Wild West, it was Black Sheep Squadron that I really got hooked on...to the point where I can still 'hear' the theme music even though I haven't seen a single episode of it in decades.  And that was before I got a chance to read about Boyington and his background with the AVG in China prior to being made a squadron commander in the Pacific.

   Robert Conrad was a heck of an actor, and yes, I remember him most from "Baa Baa Black Sheep". (I loved the F4U "Corsair" and had a pristine model I'd made sitting on my small desk back when it was on) When I was older, I bought 'Pappy's" autobiography and read it through and learned that he was a rather flawed human being, and Robert's portrayal was rather heavily sanitized. (Considering the era, I'm not suprised)

   There was one quote I remember him (Conrad) saying once, and it has stuck with me ever since: "You have my respect, but God help you if you ever lose it."

   Bless him for all that he did as an actor. He's definitely earned his Hall Pass.

I had to look him up. Once I saw the pictures and looked into what he did on film and TV it all came back to me.

I'm not a star struck fan of anyone person. I do happen to feel that his error of actors were so much more talented in their own right. They had to sing, dance, and no special effects or movie magic per say to enhance what they did.

It was all natural skill and talent.

I will miss any classic film star, they just don't make them like they used too !

I read alot   growing up..comics.. History, sports...My older Brother put   models together, i got hooked on WWI aircraft..but one WWII  aircraft was  my  Favorite. It had the Flying Tigers   decals on it.

 I read up about them and other  war stories,with my Dad being a WWII Navy vet with 90% of  his  time served  int eh island hooppiugn and such, Black Sheep squardon  was one of my fav TV shows, I  also watched   Combat...GAllent Men  and Rat Patrol

 the idea  that a TV show  was  'based'  on a war Hero  was pretty neat
