That is so cool! I love Twilight 2000. I just wish it was a bit more pbp friendly. so much crunchiness.

Is that the game with the super advanced character creation that puts Travellers to shame?

LOL!  Do you remember the original Travelers system.  Creating a character took all afternoon and was super fun, but the rest of the game was surprisingly boring.

I wouldn't say that... I mean you won't die during Background generation in T2K unlike a certain Megatraveller...

I remember playing the video game:

https://www.myabandonware.com/game/twilight-2000-1am

And yeah, the character creation was the best part of the game. The game itself I could never get working properly. The control schemes on these old old games are sometimes just awful.

Yeah, I had a lot of fun with that back in the day... of course i didn't need to use emulator when it came out...

But it really doesn't hold a candle to Jagged Alliance or JA2.

Yeah, I played it on my Commodore 64 I believe. Maybe it was a 286 by that time.

I'm very happy with this news. I also remember playing the video game and getting the sense it was vastly sandboxy.

Ugh, all these companies taking games with a good fan base and taking the thing the fans like about the game out.  "Oh, look at all the people that like this game.  I got an idea!  Let's take everything out of the game that makes it unique!  Yeah, everyone will love that."

Man, I hate that so much.  They buggered up XCOm and Jagged Allaince.  Makes me so annnoyed.  So annoyed I won't buy anythign they make going forward.

Run right you can get over this issue in a PBP format. The GM just needs to make all dice rolls for the players (which some players hate as a set up). If that happens then it becomes a much more narrative game that flows well.

Twilight 2000 was great - nice open world, freedom to go and do whatever your group came up with. The adventures were good as well.

New edition of Twilight 2000 announced

Cast: Resurrect Thread.

Sorry for coming late to the table. Got the game over the summer and gave it a good read-through. Still nice and crunchy, and the designers added an alternate campaign setting that looks very good. (Of course, given current events, I think, perhaps, we all overestimated the Soviets/Russians' ability to wage conventional war, so, in retrospect, maybe the protagonists' situation should never have been so dire... ;) )

I have no issues with character creation or the combat rules, and I think the ammo dice are a nice touch. My FLGG and I have a few campaigns ahead of this one to play, but I definitely look forward to sinking my teeth into it at some point.

I got the books recently for a game that fell through.  Would like to give it a shot sometime.
