Trying to put pic in post

I'm trying to post a message with an image in it.  I put the line code (<img src="URL">) with my website address in the quotes, but the preview still doesn't show the image.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm assuming you're doing this in a game.  Image posting is disabled in public forums.

Are you including those parentheses?

<img src="URL"> is the correct format.

If the syntax is correct, double check the URL is valid by pasting it directly into a browser address bar.

If that's also correct, you could try pasting the tag and URL here (assuming it's not an image that would fall under the Adult category) so someone can maybe spot some other issue.

Further note, if you aren't a GM, you cannot post images in Game Threads, just the urls.

Yep, any participant in a game can post images in threads.

Links to other pages do, however, require the full url to be displayed, unless you are the GM.

One way you can get around showing the url is by using the code <a href="URL">Name of Link</a>

Wait... what?  Did this change at some point or have I been just bungling this for over seven years...

Wait a minute...

I've probably been confusing the two things this entire time.  Dang it.  And of course I'll probably forget this new lore in about 5 minutes...

Also, if you're trying to share a pic from Dropbox, you need to take the "dl=0" at the end of the address and change it to "raw=1" or you'll just get a broken link.

Not sure if that applies to other places you might store your pics on.

In reply to PomposLantern (msg # 7):

Which (as mentioned previously) only works in a game if you are the GM.  It does, however, work fine in public forums.

My Dropbox images still have the "dl=0" at the end (before their alignment script), and they're working fine, so I suspect this is an issue related to something other than Dropbox itself.

Years ago we could put a YouTube link in and it play but I don’t think that is permitted anymore or I just forgot how.  Things change and for good reasons.  :)

I'm still new here, but I can usually do it as coding is similar to another site I was on. Actually was wondering on YouTube as well. Times I like to add a song to my responses, but usually just put title. If it's older or not widespread enough some maybe confused

I simply put the YouTube link in and players can click on it, or not.  I think the ability to put in the actual YouTube or other video types may have something to do with the RPol server and/or infringement rights but do not know.
