Aptril Fools!

That would be why I like the mobile-friendly r.rpol format.  No bleeding eyes.

Oh yeah, the April fool's color scheme slipped my mind this year.

I need to get some popcorn.  The best part of this is the reactions.  :)

I actually like this colour scheme.  Wouldn't want to live with it, but it makes a nice change.

Re: Aptril Fools!

Can we get an opt-out of this nonsense?  Seriously, it's an actual usability issue this year given that you've even decided to fornicate the contrast theme that's for the visually impaired.  Creating a custom theme to make the site usable shouldn't be necessary.

All uou have to do is click on my preferences and pick another colour scheme or have someone do it for you in the house, a friend or family if you are visually impaired.  It is only for 24 hours if you don’t change it.  I use the new site and actually miss it so am going back to the old site to just have a look.  Be warned it happens at Christmas too and a fee holidays I think.  And it doesn’t affect playing or GMing and games either.  Just the main page!  Thanks Jase and Admin/Moderators for having this bit of temporary fun with us!

I can see fine, the eye-searing pink bars across the screen are actively painful though, so I can't look at it for that long without getting a migrane.  However, when I went to the preferences to select something else, they were all corrupted.  I don't know if that was a bug or deliberate, but white/black/blue/dark blue/brown/dark brown/contrast were all messed up.  I ended up making a custom color scheme to get something I can actually look at.

Re: Aptril Fools!

The holiday themes don't affect r.rpol.net
So if you want to avoid them, you can switch to the responsive site (the one with the extra r in front) for the day on April 1st, Christmas and Saint Patrick's day

Switching back and forth without logging in/out each time might mess with your cookies, but other than that it's a simple way to avoid the colours

Re: Aptril Fools!

I just knew there'd be a complaint thread about this scheme, just like there is every year. Let the salt flow!

Personally, I could give a hoot, it's only one day a year (I actually like the other ones), if you can't use the site, just... don't? One day off a year might actually be good for some people. ;)

The theme has not changed.  It is exactly the same as it has been every year since it was introduced.

Come on over to the responsive site!  The water's fine!  And there's no glaring colors, unless you put them together yourself.

You shold start figuring that out sooner rather than later, when jase decides to finalize the migration, you'll be a fish out of water on the responsive site.  Start playing with it now, then you'll be ready when the move comes.  (Honestly, it's basically the same with a few improvements, lack of Holiday Themes may or may not be one of those improvements depending on whom you ask.)

Personally, not a fan of the way the responsive site looks, so I'll be alongside donsr when it comes time for forced migration. And the lack of holiday themes is one of the things, if only a very minor one, keeping me away.

jase has said a few times, 'themes will come once the other pieces of responsive are done'.  Now, I'm not sure what is left at this point, but I bet he has a list and he's checking it twice...

Every year, as in once a year?

Oh, do I wish. Mine do it whenever the pressure gets too bad, or when I have to skip a fluid removal, because certain people don't want to cover   the procedure.  So when the tear ducts tare, and I become ER fair, I'm setup for Hallow' eve, as my eyes, do bleed.

Someone usually screams, because you know, blood from the eyes and all.

Oh, its the RPOL colors... well, you could turn off your screen, and be like me, and use the talking program, to give those eyes some peace.

Well, to be like me your eyes would have to not work at all, but I would rather have your eyes still be working, and free of the issue. Plus, you can get the fifty minute JAWS demo for free.

Aptril Fools!

If I may, my favorite April Fools joke was on my mother. Her eyesight was never that good and she would often sit in her rocking chair halfway across the room along the wall. I set the scene up by placing a wadded up bit of black thread on one side of the center carpet. A line from it led to me sitting on the far side. While she sat there, I slowly reeled in the small black knot of thread. I had to actually look in it's direction to subliminally get her to see it.

She asked me what that was? Looking at it, I asked, What? She pointed at it and said, THAT! (I pulled the knot closer to the center of the room). I calmly said, There's nothing there. Getting up out of her chair, she stood over it and pointed at it again. She said, What is THAT!  I got up and on my hands and knees, put my face down to look right at it -I don't see anything. You're imagining things.

In fury, she picked it up. Seeing it was black knot of thread, with a line of thread leading to me, she knew she had been April Fooled. We laughed and she said she thought she was going crazy.

Over the years, we April Fooled each other many times.
