Hello dear community,

I stumbled over this site by chance - to be honest.

Some youtube video mentioned this option if no playing group / or consistent time is available. So I tried to sneak in here a bit and check whether this form is something for me.

I played many ttrpgs over the last 30 years I believe - never pbp.
Being from Germany it was common to begin the jouney with "Das Schwarze Auge" in the late 80s. Wahhammer Fantasy, RuneQuest, Midgard, Shadowrun, Ars Magica, Dark Heresy, Call of C-somethingWithTentacles.

At the moment- after looking for something fresh (and not medieval-fantasy) I am completely hooked on Numenera! My aim is to GM a campaign in the Ninth World some day.

My question is - hence I have no feel at the moment how all this works:
Is there an opportunity to sneak in somewhere and read the posts of an ongoing pbp-campaign?
This is because I don't want to jump in - just to fint out that this form of playing is absolutely nothing for me - and probably break the group...

you're in luck, this is the best site out there. the main page  has everything you need...a search engine to find games...the  'wanted players  thread"

 you can set up your own games  via the  link.

 for games yiou run or play in, everythign is clean , on one page..the dice roller  beats the 9 hells out of other site's...the colors for  'speech' are real easy to us.

Welcome to RPol and so happy you found us.  You'll find anything and everything  you want here and so many great games from freeform to about any system game you like.  It is easy to be a GM or a Player here.  I’ve been around here for donkey years.  Love it and hope you will too.

PBP is a way of playing and it includes system games as well as freeform games.  If you don’t wish to be a player in games it might be best that you post an ad in WANTED GMs outlining what it is you wish to do and find someone that would add you to their game as a lurker.  I am sure there will be a GM that will help you out.  You might find playing in someone’s game more fun than you think,  But,  watching or even playing in a game will not show you how the mechanics of actually Gming a game works.  But here on the best game platform on the web even GMing a game is simple as far as mechanics and there are many ways to run your game.  The Community forum also is a good place to ask question if you need help.  Admi, Moderator and players are always willing to help others here.  We are a friendly bunch here, well in most cases! LOL

A few tips for you are below:-

Make sure you turn on your rmail by going to the link at the top that is User preferences, there you will find some settings to play around with including the rmail one as that is how you and most GMs can talk.

On the main menu there are two forums you can find what you want to play in

Wanted: players At the top there is a link that is 'Search Games' and when you click on those words it gives you a more distinct search area for what you are looking for.

Wanted: GMs where you can make a post describing the type of games you are looking for and GMs check there for new players sometimes.

At the bottom of the main menu you will also find search link to find games and other good stuff.
