Re: Is this forum alive?

Easytables are really cool, but I seem to have missed them totally. Is there any reference info about them?

Re: Is this forum alive?

In reply to Tzuppy (msg # 19):

Almost everything I know about easytables came from the FAQ. I used to use the old kind of tables, then someone in the Community Chat showed me easytables. It's been trial and error, but it's way better than the old way.

If we keep posting about what's going on, then this forum will revive. One of the 3 WoD games I'm in is on pause. The GM is going abroad to teach English. I think it's a real cool opportunity. I've started running a game and I've got a great co-GM to help me.

What are you guys into?

Found it eventually. Do you know how long have easytables been up?

Sadly I have no time and strength to play or run anything (both TT and online).

I just got the bug back, so I might start something, but most likely it will fizzle like everything.

All this is especially true for WoD. I have no time to bother with 9 attributes, 20-30 skills and 15 freebies, so for the most part when I do find time to roleplay, it's done in FATE. That being said, I still love WoD and many things I've learned in WoD I use in FATE (vice versa was also true when I did have time to play WoD).

I guess I've always considered FATE to be one magnitude simplified version of WoD.

And that's the way we like it, baby,
I don't wanna life forever.

Re: Is this forum alive?

I don't know how long they've been available. I only found out about them a week or two before Christmas. Since then, I've been keeping an eye on the RPOL Dev threads.

I've heard of FATE, but never tried it. I don't know anyone who plays. I don't mind the WOD stats. Sometimes I lower them. Sometimes I raise them. Some I ignore. Just depends on the game I want. I'm very much of the belief that the corebooks are suggestions.

Re: Is this forum alive?

Well I have been getting into Exalted lately. The last WoD game I tried to run was nWoD core with mortals fighting zombies Dead Island style. My players hit me with the God Machine rules update partway through. I tried to change the game over to that, got frustrated and raged quit.

In reply to shady joker (msg # 24):

How much did the God Machine Chronicle changed when it comes to rules? I keep hearing these rules, but I can't seem to find any real differences.

As for FATE, it does away with attributes, character has about dozen skills which include backgrounds such as Resources and it has Willpower points which are called Fate points. Main difference is that it uses so-called Aspects to abstract powers (Spheres/Disciplines/Gifts...) and they can be pretty much anything you like, so you can have your father's great sword for instance or you can have fire magic and they work pretty much the same. You spend Fate points when you use your Aspects to your advantage and you receive Fate points when anyone (GM, other players or even yourself) uses your Aspects against you, kind of like Nature, Vice and Virtue. Because of that you need to have at least couple of negative Aspects and best is if you have Aspects that can be used both by you and against you.

Unsurprisingly, you can easily transfer FATE across settings and styles of play.

I don't play much NWOD. I've never bothered with GMC.

They completely alter the combat system. NWOD has both damage and the to hit roll lumped together. So high damage  weapons are more likely to hit and better armor makes you harder to hit. The God Machine Chronicles makes to hit and damage separate so the armor and weapons are all reworked. They also classify ALL weapons as lethal and only unarmed strikes do bashing. They also redid some of the other mechanics.

This was my main disagreement with nWoD. Most of other stuff I could swallow.

Do weapons simply add damage or is it rolled? And how do armors work?

Even the baseball bat?

Anything noteworthy?

Tzuppy, they legally hand it out for free. It will be much easier to just grab it for yourself.

Re: Is this forum alive?

Just downloaded V20 and W20 last night. Going to hold off on the M20 quickstart and just wait for the full release. Flipped through a little bit last night. I  don't often play Werewolf or Vampire, but I liked what  I see so far.

I really enjoyed them as well. I got W20 changing breeds as well and liked it. Makes me want to play one of the changing breeds.

In reply to shady joker (msg # 30):

I've finally found some time to read God-Machine Rules Update. One one hand it is yet another firm step away from what is right. On the other, creators of God-Machine have been taking a page from Fate playbook, with Aspirations, Conditions and Tilts. If only they could figure out that Beats should be giving you Willpower (Fate points), not experience.

I don't really know why I posted this, I guess I need to share my impressions.

Re: Is this forum alive?

I'm down to three games, all OWOD, and two discussions. I'm at my game limit. If I play any more, something would be neglected. One game is on long-term pause. The other two are picking up steam. I shut my own game down. :( I'll try it again after graduation.

What about the rest of you?

I'm mostly on a Scion kick right now but there aren't many games that fit.

Re: Is this forum alive?

Interestingly RPOL is what taught me that Scion is horribly broken.  I was always wanting to play the game because the concept is awesome but the playability of te rules is ridiculous.  I would rather play Exalted now.

Re: Is this forum alive?

Well I have never played Scion and I am looking for a game that's strictly one pantheon to cut down on the brokenness of it a bit.

But few want to limit the characters to only one pantheon.

Re: Is this forum alive?

It isn't multiple pantheons that mess the game up.  It is the ridiculous power level.  It isn't inconceivable for a freshly made scion to be able to take a tank round to the chest and laugh it off (maybe even a nuke).

How about sticking to Hero power level? (I always thought that higher power levels suck, anyway.)
