Happy Homecoming - 5

Tension level Unknown

12:20 p.m.
Prisoners Served: 150
Prisoners Not Served: 172
Prisoners Per Minute Served: 6

No prisoners are currently being served

"We will not allow debriefing," the euthanasia expert says.  "Everything done here is final and is not reported."

At Gunther's comments, the guards quickly take off the cuffs and exit the area.

You see several of your newfound "friends" beginning to casually move toward you down the hall, but you don't think they will make it past all the holding cells in time.

Bruce steps into the termination booth, but it remains open.

The stun effects are beginning to wear off, but not quite yet.

There are no alarms or anything that can be activated by prisoners.  That would just create headaches.  So that just leaves you, the euthanasia experts, and the termination booths.

And then your termination is rudely interrupted...

It happens very quickly.  It can only be described as "chaos."

Two squads of soldiers attack from above.  You see this all from the termination area.  From their dress, they appear to be PURGE soldiers, part of that dangerous secret society.  They must have crawled through the ventilation ducts.

The first squad (Alpha) attacks the lookout platform with three soldiers.  A second squad (Bravo) attacks the waiting room door.  With expert timing, the two teams simultaneously blow holes in the ceiling with cone rifles firing HEAP shells.

Alpha hits the lookout platform and kills the five GREEN goons there.  One PURGEr heas to George-B's office, apparently to assassinate the director of the facility.  The two remaining Alpha soldiers, from behind blast shields, destroy the waiting room combots with high-power ECM equipment.  Then they open the trapdoor and move down to the floor, where they blow open the security door using shaped explosive charges.

This is all happening fast, in a matter of seconds!

Meanwhile, Bravo team descends to the waiting room with 6 soldiers on guylines, wielding slugthrowers and other weapons, mowing down the GREEN goons with high-velocity ammo.  Oddly, none of the heavy armament weapons above the lights are firing.  They must have been reprogrammed, just like the termination manifest was reprogrammed to schedule you for immediate termination.  However, one Headsweeper turret fires down in a messy spray, taking out a PURGE soldier and sprinkling everyone in the waiting room with flecks of intestine...and ruins their beverages!

The surviving GREEN goons and assistant director Jessica-G retaliate, but they don't seem to be very good shots.  In fact, their shots set off the pyrolex homecoming chambers, causing chain-reactive bursts of slag to advance slowly toward the termination booths.  This slag is slowly moving down toward the spot where you stand!

The euthanasia experts have forgotten about you.  They are more concerned about...panicking.  They flee the termination booths.

There are no prisoners being served.

You feel the effects of the stun wear off.  Now you have free movement again.

Gunther backed away from the slowly advancing explosions, accidently knocking into the Termination Booth which Bruce had entered and swinging the door shut.

Lynn follows Joseph.  "Vee must make our vay back to the carts and serve the prisoners, else vee vill really be traitors, no?"  She looks to Seth for his approval as team leader, but she begins moving from one holding cell to the next to make sure she performs her duties.

"Only traitors abandon their duties," she says, "and you must be happy about your duty."

Re: Happy Homecoming - 5

To make sure I have the situation right:

Joseph and Lynn are working their way toward the holding cells
Bruce is in a termination booth
Gunther is cowering in the termination area
  CL is awaiting orders

"Alright team, we have our orders- we need to finish serving the beverages and bring happiness to this termination center no matter what the cost.  If necessary we can secure weapons from the combots or fallen guards, but I don't imagine it will come to that."  Seth orders Bruce out of the termination booth- we can report for termination after our duty is complete- then orders him and Gunther to follow Joseph and Lynn down the corridor. Seth reminds CL to take a moment to brief his fellow troubleshooters on the hygienic consequences of contact with pyrolitic slag.  Seth will back his team up and coordinate efforts by scanning the area for any other possible threats- his multicoder is out and at the ready!

Is the happy elevator music still playing?

Bruce can (probably?) not see or hear since someone closed the door?

Re: Happy Homecoming - 5

The door does not secure without the euthanasia expert's access, so Bruce can still hear and see through a crack.

Seth's understanding is also my understanding.  (Let me know if we're mistaken.)

The elevator music is still playing, but it is being drowned out by the explosions, the guns roaring, and the screams of panic.

The two combots in the termination booth area have moved toward the PURGE soldiers to repel the attack.

The euthanasia experts fled down the hall of cells and were incinerated by the slag and explosions.

Joseph and Lynn are working their way back through the aisle of cells on the opposite sides from the approaching slag.

Seth follows them after a comment to CL.

Bruce is inside the termination booth.

And that's when you notice an oddness in the scene.  All the prisoners are fleeing to their cells or crouching or panicking in some sort of way.  All, that is, except Dan.

REMINDER:
quote:
Dan is a compact man of medium height with frighteningly intense steel blue eyes.  He is military to the bone.  He's furious at "those Internal Security vatslimes" for catching him.  When you look in his eyes, you know he could kill you without a second thought.

quote:
Dan tried to convince you to help but was accused of treason by CL.  "You will have your up-and-comings," he said to CL.  "Make no doubt about it."  He looks at his watch to check the time, and realizes he isn't wearing a watch.

Lynn then went with Dan to talk with him privately.

Dan is standing tall, as though he is the commander of the PURGE operation destroying the termination area at Happy Homecoming.  And then you are sure he is in command because he points in your direction (or is that in the direction of CL?) and says loud enough to be heard over the firing and panicking and elevator music, "TIME FOR YOUR UP AND COMINGS!"

The six PURGE operatives turn in your direction, rifles in hand.

Oddly, the inmates who talked to you earlier were fleeing toward you, as though this might be the opportune time for you to help them escape.

Re: Happy Homecoming - 5

Figuring his odds of survival are about the same inside or outside the termination booth, Bruce decides to go out with a blaze of glory.  He pulls out a can of Bouncy Bubble Beverage from his utility belt, shakes it vigorously then storms out of the termination booth singing this week's Computer-approved-genuinely-catchy-thirst-inspiring jingle for B.B.B.  At the crescendo, he chucks the can at the head of the nearest PURGE soldier.  "...now with classified percent more fun!"

"He's that way!" Lynn says halfway down the hall, pointing back at CL so the PURGE soldiers make no mistake about who Dan is talking about.

Then she continues to follow Joseph toward the beverages to resume her duty serving them.

Re: Happy Homecoming - 5

Fire flies through the air as the PURGE soldiers fire in your direction.

Joseph and Lynn make their ways to the beverage cart.  They are not being aimed at.  However, everyone near CL is in danger.

Seth is loading a program and waiting for answers while slag rolls toward the termination booths and he is following along behind Joseph and Lynn.

CL is standing by Seth, almost seeming to use Seth as cover.

Bruce runs toward the PURGE soldier.  They are still separated by a bit of distance, but the PURGE soldier looks very confused at what he sees.

Gunther follows Seth's orders and heads behind Seth and CL toward the waiting area to distribute more beverages.

Pulling out another of his dwindling personal supply of BBB, Bruce quips "I AM serving drinks...overhand serving!"  He smiles a fakey-I'm-being-watched smile and chucks a second well-shaken can at a PURGE soldier.

OOC:  I'm not seeing much activity here.  Please let me know your characters' actions. Remember that only 3 people at a time can serve prisoners.

Also, I will be out of town until Tuesday.  Please try to post your moves by then.  You can also interact with each other too.

Re: Happy Homecoming - 5

The PURGE are firing chaotically...and Joseph is SNAFUED by a shot.  CL appears to be a target, and he is INJURED.  Other stray fire hits the serving cart.

GREEN goons are entering.

From here, it appears that you will all soon die at the PURGE's hands if you don't do something, or the crossfire between PURGE and GREEN goons is likely to catch you in between them.

The safest place appears to be upstairs where the small PURGE group went, and which you can probably access in one round.  You could go to the director's office or try to escape through the security exits...or one of the other methods described earlier...or if you have a better idea, go for it.
