Rewriting Star Wars Episode VII

Here’s a great idea for a Star Wars campaign:

Take the initial setup of A Force Awakens. Assume everything that happened in Aftermath happened and we start with Luke having a failed Jedi academy and disappearing, Leia leading the resistance against a First Order, and Resistance agents looking for Luke. The Falcon is on Jakku, Starkiller base is used to destroy the New Republic.

Insert a new group of heroes. Can they find Luke and destroy Starkiller base in time to save the galaxy?

You can rewrite anything you want or keep things the same. You can allow Rae and Finn and Poe or not. Maybe Palpatine is alive. Maybe not. Maybe Ben Solo never went to the dark side. Maybe Luke trained more Jedi. It’s all up to you!

I’d recommend REUP d6 for this but d20 Star Wars would work as well.

I think this would be a fun game to play in!

What if we rewrote the new Star Wars movies?

Might be intrigued, depending on system.

Sorry, just clarifying - interested in playing, not GMing.

In reply to Bod Man (msg # 1):

Generally inclined but the fact that I'd have to learn an entire tabletop system, the Star Wars universe (ain't that big of a fan that I knew the ins and outs) and have never DM'd before - not to mention I'd have to rewrite the entire plot because the Disney trilogy is just bleh - I'd need a lot of support.

I think part of this would have to be a joint effort on he rewrite part. I see RPGs as collaborative storytelling anyway.

Still, the deck seems stacked against you...
