Move post function

I would like the ability to move posts between threads (within the game). That would help if a player posts in the wrong thread or if the GM wants to reorganise the game without having to delete and recreate posts manually.

Re: Move post function

It would definately be handy, but probably just about as hard as quoting all the player's post and Posting it as the player, in the thread you want it.  Additional features might be the ability to move posts up and down in a thread if their order is askew.

Re: Move post function

This is something I've been wishing for as well.  The OCD game geek in me is just dreaming of the possibility of re-arranging posts into Initiative order, after the fact...

EXACTLY what I first thought of when I was responding the first time, Initiative,  people posting out of order for whatever reason, etc, and being able to get them back insync without some crazy editing skills.

Re: Move post function

In the past, I've usually just suffered the disorder.  Once or twice, I actually quote-copied 5 people's posts into Notepad, deleted them all, and re-posted them all in the correct order, all the while praying that my players were taking a break long enough for the hack-job.

It was a royal pain in the ass, and made me think long and hard about re-ordering things again.  Not to mention, when a player deletes a post, the GM gets to see its "ghost" just sitting there invisibly until its no longer needed.  But when we GMs start deleting stuff, it's instantly purged completely, making me even more nervous about accidentally botching things during a post rearranging session.

A proper Move Post function would be a godsend.

Re: Move post function

I suffered the same calamity in a D20 apocalypse game if I'm not mistaken.  Unfortunately, then, I didn't even know about being able to post as others until it was too late lol.  Imagine how badly the endeavor went..

Re: Move post function

Goodness, I just thought of another use for this.  In my games, I always encourage each player to have one PM thread that they use to build their character, ask questions, etc etc.  But even despite this, there are always a few players who zap me a new PM every time they're wondering "what's in the monster's sack?" or "Can I see this from where I'm standing?" or "Gone for a week, see you soon".

That's where a move/merge post option would come in.

If I had the power to just merge those PMs into my one-per-player threads, my inbox would be so much cleaner.  I'm already getting excited about the possibility.  Of course, it wouldn't work with PMs to multiple parties, but I rarely use those anyway.

Re: Move post function

I would find this useful but would not personally consider to super important.
